Poor woman... sounds like she made a lot of effort to avoid firing.

But good on her for pulling the trigger and hitting him when it was go time.

911 call transcript (http://www.ktul.com/news/stories/1209/684411.html)

RESIDENT - "Oh crap he's coming around the front..."

911 - "Is your front door locked?"

RESIDENT - "Yes ma'am but it's only got a lock on the handle."

911 - "Okay, do you have a place inside your house and lock yourself in a room?"

RESIDENT - "Uh, not really."

RESIDENT - "Nope, he's at the patio door again."

911 - "I can hear him banging again."

She had the presence of mind to tell the dispatcher, "I've got a big shotgun, I am not going into a small bathroom." Damn.

She kept her cool and did the right thing. You can hear the adrenaline crash in her voice after she fired. Tough to listen to, but good on her.

Kudos and sympathies as well. I hope she does not take to second guessing herself.

Steaks for the doggies who woke her up, and for the men who taught her to shoot.

Just did a review on the 20 guage I got as an anniversary present last year (Hallmark obviously didn't realize that 12 years was celebrated with "Mossberg"--you know, instead of gold, silver, paper, wood, whatever ). And can I tell you how happy I feel to live in the city limits (albeit near the edge of them). She shot him like 10 minutes into the 911 call, and the cops arrived around 23 minutes into the call. We got cops her faster than that when the drunk kid creamed the neighbors parked car at 1:00 am . . .

She handled herself well. It will be easy for some to second guess her--wondering why she didn't yell back at him, tell him to go away, tell him she didn't have his truck--whatever. But that would have given away her position--and she didn't know if he had a weapon.

Remarkable woman. Difficult situation. Well done.

Man. I'm amazed at how calm she was through it to the shot. I hope she gets through the trauma she'll be living with. Good on her for making the tough call and following through. Prayers inbound to her for coming to peace with having to shoot..
