Heavy, thanks for putting this out. For all others, the following link will take you to the FRA website and shed a little light on who these Warriors were and the loved ones they left behind.

RIP warriors.
Gunny Schmidt was one of our SOTG instructors for the MSPF. Good guy and good instructor. During VBSS training, we watched that video as part of our HABD/water landing block of instruction. Our instructor actually having been in the incident he was showing us drove home the point that the job can kill you even in peace time.

I remember that day too well. One of the members of that team was in my squad in RS. We were 5 days from graduating. The RIs pulled him aside and told him the horrible news. They said he could punch out early if he needed to. He went off in the woods to be alone for a while, then came back and graduated with the rest of us.
I think it bothered him a bit that he would have been there if he wasn't in school with us.

I can't believe it's been 10 yrs. Just the magnitude of it was insane, not to mention the effects on the wife's and kids of the lost Marines-never seeing their father or husband ever again, and in some cases never knowing them.
Everyone had to redo the SOC qual, training was immediately kank'ed, brass showed up and took up all the seats at the memorial service, Navy dragging their feet over recovering the bodies. Everything adding up, it seemed like it would never end.
Worst of all, I never got to make fun of that Nightcrawler tattoo on the side of Bacca's head again.
