I like the look of these hikers, any feedback?

I bought 3 pairs of Adidas wingwalkers in the late 90's, and I've worn them out. I was looking for something to replace them, and having trouble doing it, until I saw the black ones in your link. They look good.
I would ask you to buy a pair and report back to me in 6 weeks.

You got it. They have a sale 2 for 1 on the short sleeve shirts also. Just give me your credit card number and I will let you know how I like the stuff! ;)

I wear 5.11 at work. I've got the 8" ones that zipper, and are water resistant. I wore them on the job the day I bought them and did not have a problem with break in. No blisters. I have had the same pair for just under a year with no problems. They even take a good shine. I should note that I wear them for street work, not for trails or such. I don't know how they would hold up to strenuous abuse.

I bought the HRT boots by 5.11 probably two years ago. I was really dissapointed, they trapped all moisture in. I cut out the insulation and burned holes in the sides with a soldering iron and I still don't like them. They looked cool and were lightweight, but I just felt like my feet were wrapped in a trashbag. I was very dissapointed...$150 dissapointed. I use Blackhawk now. I have lots of other 5.11 that works out great, the glasses, flashlight, duty uniforms, all great. The price is right, I just don't want to go through another crappy pair of boots. It's olny money I guess. Thank you for your input.

I got my boots, knife, free shipping and buy one get one free shirts. I am impressed by the boots, I tried them on really quick to see if they fit and they feel light and comfortable. I think these are going to work out really well.

I didn't care for them. I have a hard time finding "tactical boots," that allow my feet to breath. Then, in '07, I found Garmont. T8 Tacticals are the best boots I've ever worn. The Blackhawk Desert Warriors were a close second, until I got them wet, at which point they literally fell apart.

not to hijack but I second the statement on the Blackhawks. Bought a pair in Sept. Its Dec now and the toes are coming off and the sides are tearing through to my socks.

Just picked up a pair of Flash III GTX boots; probably one of the most comfortable pairs of boots I've worn. With goretex they'll probably be a bit too warm in summer/hot weather, however for fall or winter they're great.

Nice.
The 5.11 trainers are just what I was looking for. They fit great and survived my first hike.

The hiking boots look good, but I've never tried them. I have worn the 511 ATAC boots when in uniform for several years now. I've found nothing that is more comfortable. They are pretty durable, too.

Ever worn Merrells, Keen, Asolo, or Salomon? My next pair before heading back downrange: http://www.salomon.com/us/#/footwear/footwear/trekking/3d-fastpacker-mid-gtx (in red)
Sorry, maybe I'm just anti-5.11

I have not worn those particular 5.11 shoes but I can comment on the quality of their other boots.
I wear the 5.11 Xpert Patrol boots on duty and they are very comfortable. They cost alot more than similar models from other companies but I find they are well made.
I have worn Asolo, Merell, North Face, and Salomon hikers/trail runners overseas and I would reccomend those for this type of shoe as it is their niche and they've been making them for years.

I have owned two pairs of 5.11 H.R.T.s now, and I don't ever plan on buying another. They were comfortable at first, but the inside of the boots got beat up rather quickly, to the point where it felt like i was wearing an exta wide boot with no support. The rubber toe cap split and seperated from the sole, and both pairs ripped at the seam above the heal. They make my feet sweat terribly also. Not worth the money they are selling for in my opinion.
I currently have the Blackhawk Desert Ops boot, seems to be holding up well to reasonable abusive wear. A few of the eyelets have come loose though, but thats about it. Pretty comfortable boots, have held up well to repeatedly being soaking wet with brackish water, then dried in the sun.
The Vasque Breeze have been the best boots I've owned so far. I highly recomend them.

I have worn a few pair of Merell Sawtooths, and they were outstanding, but I haven't tried any of the other Merell boots or shoes.

I've worn Merrells and Asollos, in various models. I've put a shitpile of miles on both of them, under heavy loads. I've never had a complaint about anything those companies or Vasque has made.

I cannot vouch to the quality of the hikers, but I have had now 3 pairs of 5.11 boots, and for duty wear, I will be hard pressed to change brands again.
I have walked these boots to death, and as long as I keep new insoles in them prox annually, they are perfect.
I a wear the speed 8 on duty, and the tan 6" Zip sides are on my feet now.
Two thumbs way up as to my own experience
Hope this helps
