OK. Here is a quote pulled from the Ottawa Citizen and reprinted in the National Post the other day:
"The officers of the future will need to develop a military ethos that retains the idea of the soldier as a warrior, while complimenting it with the concepts of the soldier as the diplomat and scholar".

Chretien has likened our troops to "boy scouts".

Skills of the soldiers are noticed to be below average. Knowledge levels of are soldiers are below average. And yet, there are still people that back the idea of cutting down our battle schools, getting rid of our airborne capability, but try to improve our moral by promising us new clothes.

Where did Canada make the poor decision to weaken us to the extent that we are at now, where national papers are ridiculing us and polls are saying that we have to "turn" ourselves into warriors? Are we going to be able to protect our sovereignty in the near future, or are we going to have to rely on our Yank brothers for that even more?

Hey, perhaps I am way out to left field with my interpretation of what was said. I would like to know what some of you read into that.

Isn't that always the way though? When morale gets low, they revamp the uniform .. as if that'll cure anything. All it does is waste money better spent putting the problems right. Next it'll be a nice new recruiting poster - and how much will the agency be paid for that? How much training would it have paid for?
