So it appears for the second year in a row I have a cricket infestation going on in my house. They appear to be your run of the mill house crickets. I've read a couple of homegrown ways of killing them basically drowning them, but I need something quick and need to kill them asap. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm about to cave in and call the pest guy.

Some of the cures sound worse than the disease...

Home Depot has this spray for crickets/cockroaches. Works like a charm. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it, but just ask a worker there and they should know. We sprayed it under doors and along window borders, and literally in 24 hours they were gone. I went in to a back room a few weeks later and found a cricket mass grave. I'll try to see if I can dig up an old bottle of it to get the brand.

Crickets fit on a fish hook?

Yes, they do and are very effective bait for both bass and trout.

As far as the origional question, get some repellant spray for around entry points, and get a common house cat for the ones inside. My cats love to capture/torture the crickets.

Try going into business. I used to buy them @ 1000 for $20 every 2 months to feed my daughter's lizards.

Thanks for the advice all. Apparently my house wasn't content hosting just crickets, as I found some termites eating my bathroom ceiling last night while in the attic (looking for a very annoying cricket). Good times!

It's times like this I'm happy I live in a country where these things aren't a problem, but I hope you get a swift resolution to the problem. Seems like bringing some other animal in would do the trick. Is there a local crazy old cat lady? Invite her and her smelly feline friends round for 'dinner'.
