Fuck you beat me to it.
Its nice that we're sending troops now that the Taliban have retreated. I've got a few friends in 1CER that just got posted there. I wonder if they're going. If I only had gone in that direction.

what is 1CER?
And if 3Pickly is going do you think that means the CRIC is a no go or a go with?

Heh, here we go again; right into the middle of another war. It is going to be lovely when the Taliban come back into Kabul and were stuck in the middle.
I wonder if there taking any Mo, cause I'll give up my spot in 1VP for Roto 11 to go to Afgahnistan.

There supposed the leave within 10 days. No Militia will be on this - getting Reservists there and up to speed in time would be impractical. Follow up roto's however....
BUT.... With 1000 troops taken out of the pre-existing schedule, where will the replacements come from to take up the slack everywhere else? The Mo.
And if we're gonna keep a battalion in Afghanistan, the budget had better go up....
If and when this happens (I'm still holding my breath) it'll be mean a lot of changes and oppurtunities even for us lowly Militia bums.

I saw some footage of 3VP getting their kit ready to go tonight on CBC news. They're got the CADPAT on. Hopefully they get some desert uniforms because I don't think those bright green CADPAT uniforms would blend in with sand too well.

When the hell did the PPCLI become the military golden child? RCR and Van Doos must be shaking their heads right now.
And when did 3 PPCLI become so special? What exactly do they do that no one else does?
And finally, why has no one questioned this "48 hours to move" thing - has the media forgotten that there are NO planes or ships to move them anywhere? Sure, "Immediate Reaction Force" sounds cool, but if the emergency isn't within driving distance it's not much good.
All the same - I'm proud to see the army doing this.

Enfield,
I think 3 PPCLI got it because they are the least dragged out unit right now. 3 R22R was just in East Timor, one of the RCR units was in Ethiopia, and the rest have all just finished or are getting ready for ROTO to Bosnia. I don't know who we got left?!?

Nationla Post reported today that 900 soldiers are ocming from 3PPCLI, and 120 from 2nd Battalion.
This is really gonna throw a wrench in the roto's...
Eggleton also claims that this will only last 6 months. It will still be a very interesting and intense 6 months....

ROTO 11 deploy Sept.
i wonder if it will stop in Bosnia or keep going. Either way we'll have some pretty tired troops wanting to come home from 2 places.

The motivation to pass Phase 3 keeps building. My unit is already dangling a jump course on front of me for the spring. If I pass Phase 3 they'll probably make me go. I was out last night after a mess dinner with a couple of Captains and a Lieutenant. 1 Captain is RCR and the other from my unit. They both had their wings. The Lt. was CAR 80-83 and an RCR Sgt. So I was the odd man out.

sweet deal if you can get it,
spring time sound like a much better time to jump out of a plane.
