This FAX came to my unit in 1996. I thought it was so funny I saved it. Found it in a box tonight so I took a picture of it. Note the 'Manchu Hair" on the line grunt. Does anyone remember seeing this one?

The Infantry one is actually based on the frontal view of myself, and Donald Philpot, sitting back to back, on top of our rolled up sleeping bags in their waterproof bags, in ROK, in a freezing rain, just south Seoul, during Team Spirit 1986. It was so deep in "suck" we decided it would be far better to just sleep that way, instead of even trying to put up any type of shelter and get more of our gear wet and frozen. In the morning I had 5" long ice sickles hanging off my steel pot, and when I moved, the ice on my "waterproof" pants broke. What a night... It sucks much less now.

It was during this same Team Spirit that I left the now infamous "huge shit in the middle of a pure snow white ice covered rice patty with one pair of green shit covered GI issued socks on top", touted by many company commanders as the funniest work of art they had ever seen to date, and a good example of field expedient toilet paper. Shortly after that we had a guy try to run across another frozen patty, to discover that his poor choice of patty was only partially frozen, causing same GI to crunch through the ice into the depths below. It was there and then that I was introduced to the literal meaning of a "shit eating grin". :smile:

Its been around a long time- long before PVT Murphy...

I seem to remember it back as far as 81 or 82- of course there wasn't an Internet as we know iit to pass it around- it was photocopied and passed around by hand instead of digits.

Obviously Al Gore hadn't gotten around to passing jokes at that time on 'his' invention...:rolleyes:
