REAL SNOW! My boss just called and said they are closed for the day. Outside my window, roads are good and clear, but it will be a mess tonite.

My brother and his family are driving down from Dallas today for Mardi Gras....what a huge bummer. They are bringing nasty, Nebraska winter weather south with them. We have sleet here now.

You guys must be up North. Down further south, where I am, all we are getting is a big helping of God's piss.

Just wet, slushy stuff all day in north Dallas – nothing is sticking to the roads. I don’t think it’s supposed to get cold enough for a real freeze tonight, so while I’m compelled to tell people here that they can leave and come in tomorrow on their own discretion, I’m quietly finishing that sentence with “…if you’re a pussy”.
Our DC office has been closed all week.

My daughter just relocated this year from Virginia back down here. I have been telling her how much she will enjoy the warmer winters.
It snowed on Christmas Day.
It snowed when we picked up her fiance at the airport in January
And now, it's official...we have the snowiest day on record in the history of DFW.
I'm sorry. I should have never said anything. But, I did get the day off work.

This is some really HEAVY, wet snow. I have been out several times this evening to brush/shake it off a number of my smaller trees that are getting nearly doubled over by the weight of it, in the hopes of keeping them intact...I hope this tapers off tonight.
Roads still okay around here.

I used a big tree for cover today and didn't have to do so much brushing off. But, I went out and moved it about an hour ago. It's when the snow starts turning to ice that it gets dangerous. Weather report says all is moving out by midnight...

2. Bah. I measured this in my backyard today, and that's not a drift. Garage on one side, privacy fence on the other.

We're around nine inches here. And, it's turning to slain/slice already. Hopefully it will either just rain or stop.

When I was in San Angelo in 2001, we had a blizzard. My first real taste of snow and it was in TX. Couldn't see more than a few feet in front of you. Was pretty crazy. :p

The storm hitting you guys is coming for us here today. They've told us expect 2" to 5" starting at noon. The further north you go .. the less there will be. Weird.

Here are a couple of shots a buddy sent me. He is trying to get back to the Houston area from northeast Texas area. Said IH-20 is shut down and the usual 2lane highways are really one lane due to lack of traffic. He was overnight in the Marshall area and said it got somewhere near 14inches by the time he left.

Officially 12 inches in DFW....
Schools closed, work from home policies activated...It may have put some more stuff down between this pic and the recording of 12", which would have only made my daughter happier.
This is her entry into the snowman building world (I think this is her first). Being a 12 yo who isn't sure if she wants to be a paleontologist, a computer games developer, or a movie director -- naturally she couldn't just build a "snowman" -- she made a snowdino....
