Cleaning optics

What is the best materials available for cleaning optics?? Should cleaning solutions be used on the elements??

I would be careful with a cleaning solution as some of them can damage the lens coating. I use lens paper or a lenspen by Remington. These seem to work fine for me. Hope this helps.
