I read this book by some guy named Hunter, and in it, a sniper was using a silenced rifle with a scope on it. And over the weekend I played this arcade game called Silent Scope 2, and the sniper you play in it has a silenced rifle.
I was wondering if it is possible to silence a sniper rifle without adding a 3 foot long suppressor to it or without using sub-sonic ammo.

Silence it.....No........Suppress it......somewhat.......but without subsonic ammo there will always be a supersonic crack. Subsonic ammo just don't work very well in a high-powered rifle. Sounds great but just not very feasible.

Hi,
we have the A.I. AW-covert 7.62 N.A.T.O.,with a suppressed barrel.
We can shoot deadly subsonic ammo at 200 meters with a "22LR" bang.
Ciao
The two Singapore Special Forces teams that entered a shooting competition I was at a few months ago used AI’s Suppressed AW (.308). They finished 1st and 3rd. The longest shots were only 400 yards but the rifles performed very well and were quite quiet.
