Yep, I have several photos of the M82A2 at the Shot Show in 1999. It's a much lighter gun using aluminum upper and lower reciever components, curved magazine, and a longer picatinny rail mount. The rail has an optional power strip for powering different sighting/illuminating devices as the user needs.

Here's a link to a photo that I posted at this site.

Robert,

The M82s that I have handled had an optional suppressor that was built for Barrett. I didn't like it at all. It quieted the noise quite well, however, there were several other problems.

1. Increased weight (minor thing, want the can, pay the price).

2. Greatly increased bolt velocity. This caused the extractor, detent, and extractor spring to leave the bolt. Strangely enough, these parts ended up back in the suppressors. Theory is that the vacumn created by the suppressor being vacated by the bullet actually sucked the blown out components back into the can.

3. Huge increase in felt recoil. Operators couldn't hold a group after 3-4 rounds when firing with the suppressor on the gun. Even well trained and seasoned shooters had problems with the can.

Barrett would have you believe that the spring that was designed to reduce the bolt velocity was not installed. This spring sat between the suppressor and the forward reciever ring. That is not true, we had the springs in place.

I had played around with the design of an integral/reciever mounted suppressor for that gun. Haven't had the time to play with it though.
