I'm getting ready to turn my MTV into CIF when I get back to 29 Palms. Anyone familiar with CIF knows how much of a pain in the arse they are when it comes to having "inspection ready" flaks. So I'm wondering if anyone has any experience or tips for cleaning the neck pro and the yokes on this horribly designed piece of gear. Thanks in advance.

If there's anyplace around there that offers a 'money back deal' on cleaning TA50....go ahead and pony up the dollars.

If it's a 1st time go, it's one less hassle and more time on your hands during a very busy period. If it gets kicked back, you can be a pain in someone else's ass....for a change.

If CIF asks to see a reciept, they're probably taking kickbacks from that buisness. You should then threaten to call IG if they don't take your shit.....

...and after they stamp your clothing record call IG anyway.

Good luck, I hate PCS time for that exact reason.

No idea what TA50 is (I will probably kick myself when I do find out.) But I used to get scolding hot water in a bucket an put some laundry detergent in there with whatever I needed cleaning. Helps break it up a bit deeper, perhaps? I used to tell myself that anyways. And then scrub vigorously. Rinse. Wash. Repeat as necessary.

Lucky for me at checkout time CIF was asleep at the wheel and I dumped off a sleeping bad full of gear that clearly had seen way to much time in sand. But they generally do have the steely-eyed, unflinching, get F*cked and die look when it comes to gear turn-ins.

We just had to buy the CIF guy taking your stuff breakfast from Burger King. Then he would sign off on anything.......even stuff you didn't have!

Some Jack Daniels always helped to "persuade" the civi's....

Haven't used the MTV, but for the old Interceptor vests it was best to pull out all the soft armor in the vests and attachments and throw it all in a washing machine.
Cold water with light detergent.
Let air dry.
Industrial machines were best.
You may need to repeat to get the best results.

Never had a problem with CIF.

That's what I did with the torso and back, but unlike the interceptors you can't pull the soft armor out of the neck pro and yoke. However, after a bit of tequila I said fuck it and threw everything in the wash besides the removable soft armor and it now looks brand new.
