I'm sure all you guys here have heard of this British gun. Chambered for 7.62mm NATO round, its one mean rifle. They even have a different model with an integrated special. Its especially favoured by the British SAS.
One thing though, what the hell does PM stand for?!?!? Everywhere they always say Accuracy International " PM ". Whats that?

Hi Stan;
Percision Military, and AW Arctic Warfare. I've owned an AW since 1994 and it is a "mean" rifle. The AW is an improved PM L96A1, and now supplanting the L96A1. In the series there's the AW, AWP(Arctic Warfare Police),AWSM(Super magnum), and AW Covert.
Take care...Jim

What are the features that differ the AW from the PM?

Hi Linus;
The biggest improvement in the AW was the anti icing bolt and improved weather proofing. Also changed is the muzzle break/front iron sight mount,scope mounting, use of the Parker Hale bipod, elimination of the butt monopod(I kinda liked that), improved stock panels, sling attachment points, trigger, barrel headspacing, and better iron sights.
All are like frosting on a cake the L96A1 is a very fine weapon, the upgrades make it even better.
Take care Linus...Jim

According to an old issue of Fighting Firearms(Fall 1996), PM was short for "Precision Magazine" and was issued to British Special Forces and police. Regular forces recieved the L96. What is meant by Precision Magazine? Beats me. Precision Military like JY said sounds more appropriate.

Jim;
Oh yeah, I know: We use it. I just didn't know what make but now I do: For obvious reasons... well, I think you can pretty much guess! Thanks for your, as always, greatly enlightening and clarifying reply!
Ps: Check over at the "Military sniping" topic for the thread on muzzle velocity. Really nice debate.
