How are these 13-16lb rifles to carry in your hands? I mean actually carry not using a sling or a drag bag? Does the extra 4" over a normal hunting rifle get in the way?
I want a nice rifle, but for the money, it will have to serve more than one role. Mainly varmits and deer. So I don't want to get a stubby rifle that won't hit a 'chuck at 500yds, but I don't want a 30" beanfield rifle that's only shot from the bench.

So, on that note, do you lose that much from a 26 to say a 22 inch barrel? Thanks for the help.

Do it right, or not at all.

Hi Riley;

I don't think the 26 inch tube makes much difference carry wise, it may in close cover but then a M4 would be appropriate http://www.specialoperations.com/ubboard/biggrin.gif Both rifles with equal taper barrels will range very close to the same weight.

Figure 25 fps per inch lost so 4 inches = 100 fps. Not to bad as long as you stay on the short side of 600 meters you should be okay.

Take care, my friend...Jim
