Greetings,
I found SOCNET because my Google Crawler pulled up my daughter's name from a discussion. I have since found out that thread was deleted; however, someone in that discussion knew my daughter.
So, if you knew Major Megan M. McClung (M4) who was KIA in ar Ramadi in Dec 2006, her mother and I would appreciate hearing from you. We are always on the lookout for stories, observations or photos of our daughter.
Reply via private message, if you would, please.

DrMike44,
Not sure what happened to the thread which mentioned your daughter, but if I recall correctly it was a discussion about soldiers / Marines who never venture outside of the base camp. Megan's name came up as being one of the very few woman Marines who actually went out into indian territory to mix it up. I don't know who the poster was, nor if he actually knew her or not. I'm very sorry for your loss, and am sure that she's now resting comfortably in His arms.

Sir,
as someone already said, it was Stoic1 who mentioned her. He has met her, and I think he was with her on several missions. He was also a friend of the male CPT who was also KIA.
Condolences, and my prayers.

Sir,
Condolences for your loss. I suggest trying the forums at Lightfighter.net, Travis Patriquin was a member over there. I don't know if any of them knew your daughter, but I think you might have a better chance there.

RIP Maj McClung.

RIP Ma'am.
I didn't know your daughter, Sir, but I believe I would have been proud to.
Some of my buddies from the Nebraska Guard (A 1/167) were in Ramadi in that time frame. I'll ask around.

To add. If you go to the Lightfighter memorial page and look for the thread in honor of Travis you will see some references by folks who knew Megan and possibly a video. RIP Megan and my condolences for your loss sir.

Sir;
My deepest condolences for your loss. Megan will forever be in my mind as a kick-ass woman who never failed to bring a smile to our faces no matter how shitty our day had been.
She also ran us all into the dirt.

Sniper111,
Meg did not spare her poor old Father either. We were at a triathalon to watch her race and when she finished she asked if I had brought my bike. I replied that I had, so she suggested we take a ride on the course as most of the bikers were on to the run. I opined that she might like to rest, to which she snorted and laughed. On the bikes we went. We were sliding along at about 22-23 MPH when I noticed she was in the small chainring up front and her legs were spinning madly. I asked why she was doing that and she said: "I just wanted to ride with you." With that she flipped to the large ring and -- it appeared that I had decided to stop, she shot off so quickly. I never did catch her.

I knew Megan well. She was tough as nails but a real sweetheart. Whenever I would have to go to LOGCAP to pick a client I'd get there really early so I could just sit and yak with her. She was funny, cool, and just a great person. Todd Venette and I would sit and talk to her for hours. They had a very special friendship and it was nice to just sit around with them and talk.
Few people know this but she also played a key role in assisting in getting Mark Boal embedded with EOD in order to write he Playboy article. She helped cut through all the red tape!
