I dont know about commonly used because they vary nowadays, but I know quite a few of them are using modified Remington 700's in .308.
The version used is the MOD700P(PSS) usually in .223Rem or .308. In this "great age" of civil litigation a factory produced rifle is the weapon of choice for LE. The 700Police sounds better than having the word sniper included when on the stand.
Take care...Jim

The Robar SR 60 is used in the San Francisco SWAT- .308 manufactored in Phonix Arizona. It is similar to the Remington 700 Police.

The Remington 700 Police Sharp Shooter (PSS). For years, this rifle has been in service with countless law enforcement agencies across the United States. Based originally on the old Remington 700 Varmint rifle of days gone by, the PSS shows its fine, tack-driving lineage. Over the yeas, the rifle has undergone many minor improvements that have kept it up to date technologically, yet affordable to the average police unit. Moreover, this rifle has led the march for many toward ever increasing accuracy and, in its current form, is quite capable when compared to a custom-built rig, especially because of its reasonable price. Most recently, Remington changed the designation of the PSS to the 700 Police, or 700 P, and has made available a detachable magazine version, the 700 D.M.,

Jim/JY said it the Remington 700 Police or PSS is by far the most used. If you go toa SWAT sniper comp you will 97% being box stock 700PSS's.
I see a trend in the near future to go to the 20-22" bbl verisons as the 26 is more than we need for 100-400 yard work and the shorter weapon is easier to move in tight corders
By the way the 700 Detachable Mags have been dropped because that system frankly sucks. the mags fail to feed so stay away. This happens about a year into use.
