There were bad guys that they pulled off the bus, who knows?

I think the 12.7mm on the BRT would have taken care of any hostages or hostage takers... the rest was just to be sure.

I didn't catch anything about hostages. Just a bit about successfully detaining criminals.
Am I missing something?

Well it certainly was a 'complete show' (Настоящая показуха), but the translation is probably closer to 'full demonstration.'
Check out the dude who set off the charge (I don't know whether to call him a breacher or a special effects activator) crawling to get back up. At first I thought he was blown pretty far from the bus, but later you can see him right next to the bus trying to get up.
The killer is this might have been a demo, but these same studs are the ones who might do something for real, later. You know, like dump some gas in an enclosed environment to put people down -- and then not have enough medical support and the proper drugs to counteract the gas when the supposed goodguys eventually storm in....
I wonder what went-off right under the bus at the moment the soldier struck the window with the long stick? A very large, flashbang?
Hopefully, for the sake of anyone taken hostage in Russia, a nice, big KPV machine gun being shot at you, and a big explosion right under the vehicle - are just for dramatic effect during public practice exercises.

In the first video, at 1:12 can anybody ID that weapon?
Looks like a KBP PP-90M1 SMG, IMO.

Looks more like a special effects stunt to me. Pre-rigged for crowds.
Most of the bang is behind the stick man.

The dude with the demo got up immediately and can be seen backing off to the right and off the screen with weapon at the ready. The guy rolling around on the ground and getting up after removal of bad guys walks to the rear with an orange item in his hand. He appears to have been an O/C and it really looks like he was blown or fell out of the vehicle. Either way, pretty Fucked up.
And, yup SOTB. Same guy's.
The dude with the demo got up immediately and can be seen backing off to the right and off the screen with weapon at the ready....You're correct -- my bad entirely. Looking at it again, he does get up and walk backwards from the bus....

Yeah, I know i'm splittin hairs here but. Watch the first guy come out of the vehicle at 16 sec. Mills around holding his head/ears while the assault team members just walk past him. Then, he re-enters the vehicle at which time he is then taken out and treated like a combatant. I thought that they were going to render first aid but instead he is taken down (twice) and then covered by a second shooter. WTF ? Do over ! I know, too much free time dude .

If you look under the bus on the left side I think that is the real demo being placed/set/thrown.. The Stick man may have been just a diversionary device.. that got back up.
Watch it again and look under the bus on the other side....
Maybe? Thoughts?
I wonder how well the rest of your career goes with your ears bleeding 24/7

Stupid peasants. Go drink some more vodka. We were afraid of these guys once?
First video is not Russian. Sounds like one of the Stans
Second video they is just talking about the how Spetnaz and FSB train together. "They can take down an avtobus in 60 secs", thier rubber bullet shooting window breaker, and showing off a handgun a Chechen terrorist used to execute Russians.

moral of the story, don't be taken hostage in Russia, cause if the terrorist don't kill you the rescuers surely will.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Typical of what I'd expect from the Russians, given their mentality and philosophy on safety, numbers, etc. Crudely done. I think they're perfectly okay with that.
I looked in a lot of threads to find where to put THIS (http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/07/11/tourists-on-burning-russian-jet-force-pilot-to-abandon-takeoff/?intcmp=obinsite). I suppose this thread is as good as any.
Wow.
Fucking airport fire crews extinguish the fire in an engine and the pilot wants to take off anyway. What fucking stupidity....

Aeroflot was bad enough, especially in-country – but I made a fair number of promises about how I’d live my life if I managed to survive flying on several Russian military aircraft.

Amen.
I rode a Mi-14 once. Once.
It was dark when we boarded, but there was enough light to see by while we were still airborne. If I could have seen the shape that bird was in before I boarded it, there might have been trouble. I wasn't religious then, but prayers were said to any and every god-like entity that might listen and multiple offers of lifestyle corrections were wagered on a safe return to solid ground at a non-fatal velocity.
There was supposed to be a door on the port side, but there wasn't one, so three of us sat in the doorway white-knuckling the door frame with our legs hanging out while the other four sat behind us and held onto our belts. The floor pan turned out to be a rust bucket, there was no tread on the port side tire, and the odd buzzing noise that puzzled me in the dark turned out to be rivets vibrating and spinning as they struggled to hold the machine together.
When we landed, the pilots couldn't get the engines to restart, so at least we didn't have to fly back out on the piece of crap. Those Russians just seem to have a completely different concept of what safety is and what it is worth.
Good luck with Soyuz Space Lines!
