Gents,

Any word on how this weapon is working out. It was put in the field for testing and haven't heard much about it since.

"Put in the field for testing"? Hell, we were using these in Iraq in 2004 with 1st Recon Bn. It's a great piece of gear and the most common use of them was to load illumination rounds and when a vehicle patrol was hit, fire 4 rounds, one in each direction, to light the area up. A GREAT way to get illum out quickly.

We used them in county 2005-2006 and they were pretty nice. I don't think we actually carried them on patrol but we definitely had the in the vics. Supposedly the spring that kept the cylinder wound would wear out over time. Never saw this.

They came in handy during mounted firefights or firefights from firm bases. During one engagement my buddy was outside in a courtyard and could not see over the wall around this house. Guys on the roof were able to accurately walk him on to targets. I don't know how true this is but apparently this resulted in the first confirmed kill with the thing and the M-32 developers wanted him to write up a story about it. He never did. I don't see him lying about that for any reason.

However, if they were being used in 2004 I hardly see this as fact.

I had one assigned to me as well in 2007. We were doing mostly mounted stuff so I never really had to lug it around. Never got hit while I had it either, which was nice. But, I had it loaded up with two colored smokes and four HEDP. The immediate illum approach was nice and we did use it in that capacity a few times. And...I burnt through a ton of rounds during a practice range with it. Other than the BS knockoff reflex sight breaking (which was pretty useless anyways) I had no problems.
