In 2008 I developed a nasty little case of Plantar Fasciitis in the left foot while training for IM Florida. Saw my local sports-doc and he cast me for some orthotic inserts. Started the stretches, NSAIDs, etc. etc. and have just now experienced 2 complete months of pain free walk/run/walk light exercise since August 2008. My question is for those that have experienced similar injury and started Crossfit training post recuperation. Too strenuous too soon? Waste of my time?
BTW, any tips on continued improvement from PF by those in the know is appreciated.

I don't do CF so I can't comment on PF as it relates to that.
I have had experience with people with PF who have started running/walking in Vibram five fingers, who have experienced great relief as a result. Check out THIS (http://socnet.com/showthread.php?t=78769) thread. Do some googling about PF and running/walking in barefoot/minimally padded shoes and see what you think. If you are having good results through your current regimen though, keep going with that.
Good luck on the recovery, PF is a bitch.
I've had PF for the past several years -- probably not as bad as the OP mentioned, but once it did become downright painful. I followed the internet suggestions, all the while working out with CF, the only thing I did was modify my regimen if it had running as a part of the workout (be conscious of sprinting, hills, how you run, etc.).
I can occasionally still feel a tinge of PF upon waking, but it is almost unnoticeable. I certainly don't believe that CF has caused it to still be there. I'd actually wager the relatively low amount of running in CF has helped the situation. I'd blame my continued PF issue (although I can't really call it an "issue") on poor shoe selection (ie, I am a sandal-wearing MFer when I can get away with it)....

SOTB, Okami, thanks for the reply. Went to the local Crossfit facility yesterday to get the low-down. Gonna give it a few weeks starting today to see if PF will tolerate it. Like SOTB, I like my sandals. Will def. check out the Vibrams.
Once again, appreciate the info.

I had PF issues and went to a POSE class about 2 years ago. Never had a problem with PF since. Your calves will hate life for the first few weeks of POSE. Youtube POSE running to see it. Also most CF boxes have CF Endurance and that teaches the POSE method. My PF has not been an issue in the 2 weeks I have been doing CF. My two cents.

I'm one of those people. VFFs and "POSE," running, and I've been pain-free for quite some time. As an aside, my knees don't hurt anymore, either.
As for CF...my advice is, just listen to your body. Don't try to "man up," or "push through it," or you'll just end up in worse shape than when you started.
