Scroll down the page and look at the scope on the M-40A1. Anybody knows what is the small plate-like device on the scope?

It's my understanding that the SIMRAD is not available to civilians at all. I could be wrong.

I called the company here in Norway, a few years ago and asked about their NV equipment. They were willing to sell it to civilians, but they wanted to know why you wanted it. They're very carefull with who gets it...

I don't know if civilians outside Norway will be allowed to buy any though. Because the export of such equipment requires an export permit and the government is VERY restrictive about the export of military equipment.
I can call Simrad on Monday and find out...

Ok, I called Simrad and the KN200/250 NV is available to civilians, although they are very expensive...
Simrad uses Image Intensified Tubes made in the USA. They use 2 and 3 Gen Tubes, Gen3 is sold to military/govn't outside the USA because of US State Dept. restrictions on export of Gen 3 tubes.

The smaller KN250 is the shorter ranged version, out to 300-400 meters
The larger KN200 is preferable for longer ranges. This is the version the USMC bought.
The price for a KN200/250 Gen 2 in Norway is somewhere between $6500-7500.... I suspect you could get a Gen3 for that price in the US, but that's only my guess!

The LE-7 laser rangefinder is also available to civilians in Norway. I was told they could also export them. But as I'm not familiar with US Laws concerning laser rangefinder, it's possible that there are some US regulations which prohibits civilians from buying them in the US. It's also extremely expensive, the price is quote "over 100000 NOK" which is $11k+!

I belive these prices are kept very high because they are based on the sale of a single unit only to civilians. Most of Simrad's sales is to military and they buy a lot more...

If you want to buy any of these items you should contact http://www.simrad-optronics.no/ and they'll give you they're name of the US distributor.
