I just got myself a Rem 700P in 7mm Mag for long rang shooting. And i was wondering what or if i should make any upgrades to it. I was thinking of replacing the factory stock with a McMillian? any suggestions. Also any help as far as a scope would be helpful. I was looking at the Leupold Mark 4 16x40mm. Any suggestions?

I would stay away from the 16x, to much power you will be restricted as to when you can shoot. Mirage will be a real killer for you. 10X is plenty of scope to see with at 1000yds and you will be a lot happier with it in the long run.
The 7MM mag will be hard on barrels so I would not expect you to go more than about 1200 to 1500rds depending on how you shoot it. Is it a heavy barrel and are you and experienced long range shooter?? Or are you just looking to get started at it??
If your just getting started you may want to go with a 308 and save the 7MM for later on.The 308 will last about 3 times as long and you can learn a lot about long range shooting of a third of the cost.
The 7MM Mag is a good long range round but not for learning on. You can burn out a barrel just getting the right load worked up for a mag. Recoil can become a big issure also and when your getting pounded you won't shoot as much and then won't learn what you need to become proficient at long range. Just my thoughts on it.

Recoil is like sex, the harder she kicks, the better it is!! http://www.socnetcentral.com/ubboard/biggrin.gif
Good info there! I only get about 1000 rnds out of my Seven mag.,but it sure is "Smokin" while it lasts!

Depending once again on what type of shooting you want to do. If you want to shoot targets then the MK4 with quarter min. adj. is probably the best. If your going to do tactical shooting at unknown ranges and on multiple targets I would consider the M-3 or else the 3.5x10LR with the one minute adjustments.
You probably won't need to go with a tapered mount because of the flat traj. of the 7MM mag just a good solid mount and rings will do you. The least you would want to go with would be the dual dove tail and probably the MK4s or Badger would be the best choice. If your pinched for money you could get away with a 4.5x14 tactical for your scope. I have one on my 6.5x284 and its a great scope and because of the flatter traj. you don't get "TO" screwed up on where your at on your dial.
If you want a really good all around stock McMillan makes what they call a general purpose stock which is the USMC M-40 stock with a narrower barrel channel. You can put most any size barrel in it within reason if you want to up grade later on. You didn't say if yours is a heavy barrel or not. It will take your stock barrel with about 1/8 of and inch or so clearance around the barrel channel. You can also order it with a stock barrel channel if you want and then cut it out later on for a heavier barrel. If yours is a factory heavy barrel now it will be a near drop in with a little sanding. Good luck hope this helps.

Your looking at close to $1000 for the MK4 and around the $750 for the 3.5x10LR and around $450 to $500 for the 4.5x14 tactical with the mil dots.
I have heard good and bad about Springfields scopes. I personally would stay with the Leupolds you just can't go wrong and customer service is top notch. This of course is just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions(HA).
