waterproof ghillie suit

Is there anyone who knows any new tricks for waterproofing a ghillie suit?

God I forgot how much those things stink, especially around 0700 when you pull it out of the WP bag.

I do have a small/short tan colored, very well made suit that is only about 15 years old, that I would love to see crawling around in some terrorists back yard! Will donate to the cause! The ghillie suit when gets wet it also gets very heavy.I saw John Plaster's videotape "ULTIMATE SNIPER". In the videotape he says that we can protect the ghillie suit from fire by applying a liquid called k-2 that liquid also protects the ghillie suit from rain it makes it waterproof. The problem is that i can't find k-2 anywhere so i was wondering if there's another way to waterproof the ghillie suit.

There are liquid silicone sprays that work well. Also Scotchguard.
My experience is that rain will usually run off the stands of the burlap to an extent. And most Ghillie wearing Operators don't do the swimming thing while in their Ghillies. They keep it in a WP bag as Josepy stated earlier.
Do you actually have to use a Ghillie,or is this all just something your playing with?

I think there is one point you are missing is if it is raining and you are on a stalk, you just get wet.

Maybe you're right. But i thing that if the ghillie suit is waterproof it doesn't get heavier. I'll try to use a spray and i will reply the results. Thanks for advise.

Havock, you didn't answere sniper1's question, what do you plan on doing with this suit? I'm not sure how well burlap would warerproof, it is a loose string like stuff, and it would be very hard to get to all of it. Not to say it won't work, but maybe a wash in kind of DWR would work better.

USMCSNIPERONE I am an ex-green beret and sniping wasn't my specialty. I trained on sniping only six months, so i respect everyone who is more experienced in that specialty. I need the ghillie suit because every month i participate in a course where we refresh all the SF skills (CQB,SURVIVAL,SNIPING)etc.

I was wondering what SF units you were with, etc. When someone new comes on board we like to know a little something about them.
