Personally i think this is a great movie and potreys the USMC Scout/Sniper very well. But actually how accurate is this movie compared to the real thing?

First 5 mins good, rest is shit. Reticles are weird shits, and a fight between two soldiers, hhmmm, not good: They send a green guy to help a hard core sniper, not good, Berenger could have done better with out the character played by Zane.
uh...wait one, I'm sanding my finger tip for a better marriage to the trigger http://www.specialoperations.com/ubboard/biggrin.gif....... I'm using a emory board on my match grade bullets to remove any dings so they fly better..... http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/lol.gif . The most realistic thing was when he scraped the horse shit in front of himself. The movie was full of said material.
Take care...Jim

One thing you must remember is that Hollywood movies are just that.
You can be the most highly qualified military advisor and the director and producers will change everything to what they want.
One thing I always liked about the movie is that they did not carry radios or rucks.

While we're on the movie topic, this months Men's Journal lists a short write up about a movie called "Enemy at the Gate."
Its a version of the Zaitsev/Conning battle at Stalingrad.
Doesn't give a release date.

Yes the duel between Vasili Zaitzev and Koenig is highly publicised, but according to some new info might have never taken place. In the story Russian sniper Zaitzev defeats German advisary Koenig after a very long duel.

I saw the trailer a couple weeks ago. Looked good. Not as good as Saving Private Ryan, but good. Hard to recreate a battlefield like Stalingrad - miles and miles of ruined city, hundreds of thousands of soldiers....
I guess it goes to the end of the battle bacause it showed a scene that I'm pretty sure was the Russian troops linking up and completing their encirclement of the city.

I posted this before, but does anyone have a picture of Berenger's vest?

Stalingrad. Created by the same folks who did Das Boot. Excellent movie. Not that old though. Perhaps four years or so.
It is available form Amazon.com, in sub title or english dub. The DVD version gives you the choice. I use scenes from it in some of my classes as an attention gainer at the start of the class. Especially for MOUT.
Hi Jesse;
Get a hold of Trigger50 on SP, that was his vest used in the movie along with the G suit. Dean may have a good pic of it for you.
Take care...Jim

Definetly a good (and realistic) movie. Didn't realize it was that new though. Good to know there's others out there who have seen it!

Yea, there is a new Stalingrad movue comming. I know of some german reserves who were paid to play german soldiers. They also wanted over 1000 men in Berlin for the scenes. (from what I heard.) Tell me when it's released.

Our local collectors guild has one of the T43s used in the film, they did a hell of a job repairing and building it over.
