Does anyone know of a good website or a person that I can get some quality EOD information from? I have had a few conversations with the recruiters here in NYC...They do not seem to know very much about EOD. I'm 27 and finishing my degree in the next year..Am I too old?
Thank you,
Ben
Ben,
First off, what service are you planning to join? Each has different requirements. As far as I know, at 27 you are good to enter any of the programs.
Also, are you looking at going officer or enlisted? once again different requirements.
Try this link, it will give you some good info on the Navy EOD program. http://www.bupers.navy.mil/pers2/N132D7/eod.htm
I'm a Navy instructor at the EOD school and would be glad to answer any specific questions you have. Each service has different directives for perspective EOD candidates so that's were you need to start.
BMF,
How's everything down there in Florida?
How's the School working the Jump pay issue? You guys getting to go play?
Thanks guys,
I'm going to take a look at that site, thanks. I am interested in the Navy, I have always been interested in diving.
I will finish school at the end of next year that will put me at age 29, I think that I should go through OCS...but I'm open to any suggestions.
Thanks,
Ben L
JW, Whatzuuuuuup!
Not much going on here. Yup, jumping is on line down here. We are hopping in with SF or CCT. Diaz (the ladies man) has busted ass to get things up and running. It's still boring not operating though.....
I am going to school full time down here and it's the only really awesome thing about being stuck here. Where else can you get the Navy to pick up 75% of your costs (and Pell grants to pick up the rest) and not deploy so much as too forget what class your supposed to be taking. It's the one benefit in the military that really is worth all the trouble! (Now that I motivated you, I'll reserve a slot for you in NUKES!)
Ben,
From my experience, age doesn't matter as much as PT scores. Meaning you can be 32+ years old, as long as you score high on the PT test you "prove" you can hang with the young-uns.(at keast to start training) Age is the most waivered requirenment in our program, PT is the least. So if you're not in shape- you better start getting there! If you think you are......you still better start getting there.
BMF,
Hay, that's cool. just schedule me for a frontal labotamy too!!! I'm glad to hear that they're not draging their feet about letting you guys jump like they did in the past. I guess now that it's a money issue...
We're back in Sig, reconstituting the det and back out the door all in one month.
Tell Tony there's still work and women to be done over here if he can handle it after his vacation in Eglin. I heard Willy Journigan made Chief; Tell him congradulations for me.
Time to put an end to this book.
BMF,
Just schedule me for a frontal labotamy too!
We're back in Sig, reconstituted the det and back out the door in 30 days. Gotta love it.
Heard Willy Journigan made Chief. Tell him I said congrats!
JW,
Diaz made sailor of the year for the command- then all of CNET. He's going to D.C. to compete against all the other fleet squids for Shore Sailor of the Year. Pass it on to all the MU8 guys to give him a call and give him a ration of shit.
WHAT A TRAVISTY!!!!!

Just got back into town. Tony is the poster boy type. What's new at the schoolhouse?
Biggest thing of interest is the adding names to the wall ceremony followed by the EOD ball this last Saturday. Kinda reminds you just how easy it is to bite it in this line of work. Maybe I should have been an Astronaut or something safe? What's up out in the operational world?
