I just read C.Q.B. by Mike Curtis.
In it he talks about PE4 and PE100.
I know PE stands for "plastic explosive",
what I am curious about is how British PE4 compares to the American C4. Also, what is PE100 and what would it be used for.
Thanks for the answers

Well I have limited experience with both types of explosive but I'll go off my dusty memoryto give you a half assed answer.
PE4 is the British equivelant of U.S. C4. It is RDX based with a wax added for decresased sensitivity and molding characteristics. The detonation rates aren't that far off from C4. I have heard that PE4's plasticiser isn't as suceptible to heat changes as U.S. C4. Anyone who's worked with C4 in 90+ degree weather should know what I mean.
PE100 is another Brit explosive that if I remember right is semi-experimental????
I believe the U.S. equivelant may be soemthing like PBXN-109. I have limited info on this one so I'll just have to say "It goes bang!"
Hope this is semi-helpful.......In whatever you're needing this info for.

BMF:
Thank you for the quick response.
I've never handeled C4 in 90+ degree weather (or any other kind of weather, for that matter), so I'll just take your word on that.
Your response was indeed informative.
Thanks again.
