Nearing 50, he looks like hes in the greatest of shape. I don't think I could handle the not eating thing, its definitely an unorthodox training regimen, but hes had 30 years of top athletic training so I would think his body has adapted to stringent routines. I had a conversation about Walker fighting Couture with my buddy saying they're "older" and it would be a good fight since they're in awesome shape, I argued that it would not be a fair fight since Walker does not have the fighting experience Couture does, rather, I would like to see an athletic ability test between the two.

QUOTE: "He eats once a day, skipping breakfast and lunch. After a long, intense day of training, he eats salad and bread for dinner. He doesn't care for meat or fuss about getting enough protein. Walker's a vegetarian."

QUOTE: "Sometimes, Walker doesn't have an appetite and will go through seven hours of wrestling, kickboxing, sparring and practicing jujitsu without having eaten for three or four days."

I had the opportunity to meet him while overseas a few years back, he came to our base on a USO/MWR tour. Great guy, he took the time to talk with me one-on-one and sign a couple of autographed pictures (one for me, a couple more for my brother and father).

Stand up dude all around.

How well do you think Hershel Walker would do in BUDS or the Q Course PT wise only? This guy has been doing 1500 sit-ups and push-ups everyday for 20+ yrs, one would think he would be a PT monster?

I can't speak for BUDS or the Q but if he only eats once a day I bet he would do OK in Ranger School.

Another guy who's still in phenomenal shape is Willie Gault, former receiver for the Bears and a couple of other NFL teams.

He's setting records in his age group's track and field events, and turning in pretty good times for a guy 20 years younger, even.

Another guy that was pretty bad ass was Bobby Hull. He's 70 now, and definitely not in as good a shape as he once was, but I was leafing through a recently released book about Hull's hockey career, including a lot pictures I've never seen.

One of them just blew me away. He played in an era when players didn't work out with weights or any of that stuff, but he didn't need to when he worked the farm up in Canada in the summer bailing hay.

You expect somebody to be in pretty good shape at 21, but Hull looked like Thor in the picture they published. I could see why opposing players would fear a Bobby Hull net to net rush.

I can't tell if he's wearing gloves in that picture, or if his hands are so big, strong and leathery, they look like gloves. Definitely a bad-ass.

Obviously Herschel Walker is in great shape, especially considering his age. The part about his diet though, is complete BS in my opinion. It seems like typical media sensationalism in order to bloat the article. If he worked out for 7 hours and only ate lettuce and bread afterwards, he would lose a LOT of muscle mass, which he obviously hasn't. He clearly has a nutritionist, and probably eats lots of tofu, egg whites, etc. Of course, this is only my opinion, but I have been training pretty hard for the past 3 years and getting a physique like that takes more than just eating bread and lettuce once every couple days... give me a break.
