View Full Version : Starting to prep for the Pipeline.
I am faxing off my paperwork to get orders to EOD Dive School tomorrow. I am guessing that I may be starting this winter or late fall due to having a current prd of 01 Sep.
Thanks to everyone that answered my questions about the EOD community. Any preparation advice for school would be appreciated.
You really can't prepare much for EOD school. As far as Dive school goes, PT is critical. I also would do a lot of open water swims using mainly your legs for propulsion. Also, swim around without a mask on but breathing through a snorkel. Oddly enough this seems to be a challenge for some people who can't "close off" their nasal pasages. (no fingers allowed!)
My suggested PT scores are as follows:
Swim- 10 min or less
Pushups-90+
Situps-90+
Pullups-20+
Run- sub 10 min.
Although the minimum will get you there, I believe that posting the above scores indicates a decent amount of preperation.
Good luck to you and remember- No matter how bad it gets....it still aint haze grey!
Thanks for the info BMF. I did well on my last screen but need to bring my pullups up from 12 to 20 and pushups up from 68. What distance are the runs at Dive school, something like 6 milers? Will also have to start studying for the physics and medicine tests.
Yah, 6 is pretty normal. I have "heard" things have laxed a bit due to the manning shortfalls but can't say for sure.
I believe the US Navy Dive Manual is on line, so start studying it if you don't already have access.
Good luck- I'll be waiting for you...
