I just bought a Mayflower Low Pro Armor Vest & UW Chest Rig Gen IV system and am wondering if anyone knows how the chest rig stays firmly on the vest? The chest rig comes with a H-Harness so you can wear it seperate or attached to the low pro vest....this is advertised on their web page and a great concept. However the sides of the chest rig are left unsecured to the vest. Pile tape is on the back of the chest rig at the sides but the armor carrier also has pile tape...in other words one of the systems should have hook tape so the two can integrate and stay secure.
The operators I have showed this system to are dumbfounded as well. One alternative that I might have to perform is to attach Nexus male buckles to the back of the vest so that I can clip the sides of the harness to the vest and tighten as necessary. But this means I have alter the rig.
The Mayflower Low Pro Armor Vest is comfortable and the chest rig is sweet but I'm not so sure they integrate that well. I may be totally wrong on the integration part but need feedback on how to make the ends (where the radio pockets are) secure to the vest. If there is no way then you will have to alter the systems to make them secure to each other.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same system.
I think this is the first edition, where you would use the waist belt that came with the UW Chestrig even when you attach it to the vest. Ive seen some mod it, which I have myself. Went to my gurkha tailor and got him to attach a couple of straps at the bottom of the vest, which I then clip it into. And this allows me to not use the waist belt.
However the mid corner buckles doesnt have anything to clip into, so it has a tendency to shift around a bit, but it fits my workprofile with PSD well. The buckles originally are supposed to be folded out of the way, using that elastic loop on the backside of the chestrig.
I also modded a Blue Force TENSPEED chestrig, cut of the straps and moved the two webloops so their placement corresponded better with the Mayflower vest, added male buckles to it and use that instead of the UW Chestrig.
All in all, its a sweet setup.

Just wanted to edit my post, but couldnt figure out how to do it.
Anyway, I have the UW QD rig, not the IV, but dont use it. I run the BFG Tenspeed chestrig instead for a lower profile.

There have been several upgrades to the system in a short amount of time, but it sounds like you may have received one with something sewn wrong. If you want (or have the ability) shoot me some pic's and I can help get it sorted. Josh at greygrouptraining dot com. We were just up at the factory this past weekend and they have quite an operation. They are committed to getting the right gear to the guys on the ground. They will make it right.

A friend of mine is the owner of Mayflower R&C.
What's your issue? I have the same exact set up and mine works fine. I've got the rack clipped into the carrier and the waistband wraps hold it in place.
This is what you stated you have:

Do you have one without the fastex buckles on the side of the chest rig? MRC has seriously stringent quality control and I've been to their facility a few times and seen it with my own eyes.
To echo zushwa, if you ping them on the website and explain your issue you will get an email back and let them know you're in the field. They'll get stuff out to you asap.

Nomad, I tried pinging them on the website several days ago but have received a reply to the questions I asked....
Answer to your question: "Whats your issue".
1. In my original email to both the vendor and the manufacturer I wasn't sure that the belt was the only way to secure the sides of the chest rig so I asked why there's pile on the back of the chest rig underneath each radio pocket and pile on the low pro armor carrier. If they are to integrate together shouldn't one have hook tape so they can fasten together? I have solved this by applying double sided hook tape so both piles will join together but this is only a temporary fix.
2. The fastex buckles on the sides of the Gen IV don't stow...so the top two will flap around if you're using the belt. If you used the temp fix I applied above then both buckles will flap around. I looked on the back of the chest rig and there are no stows.
3. Now that I know the only way you can ensure the sides of the vest don't flap around is through the belt I'll consider modifing the carrier so the waist band has fastex buckles to clip in to the rig so that I don't have to rely on the belt. I've shown this to a couple operators here in country they agree that would be better....there are several ways you can skin the cat. I'm not saying mine is the way to go.
4. I like both the carrier and the Gen IV chest rig, they are very very comfortable, but think the two systems could be better integrated so you have the option of not having to use the belt. Either use the buckle solution or the hook and pile option to fasten the back of the chest rig to the armor carrier...there may be another solution too...or the manufacturer may think this is best for his business.
5. The only reason why I asked these questions to the forum was that I wasn't getting any answers by the vendor or manufacturer.
6. I hope my comments are taken as constructive feedback from a customer who likes the system and just wants to offer possible alternatives to the belt and buckle stow issue.
Cheers,

Noticed a word missing in the first sentence so let me be clear..... I did not receive a reply from the manufacturing after pinging them on the website system.

I have this exact setup and it works magnificently for me. However, if you feel the need for modifications, check out www.downrangegear.com and speak with Chris. He makes a mod for this system that utilizes mounted buckles and bungee chord to create the solution you speak of.

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't the Mayflower UW chest rig the exact same thing as the Viking tactics chest rig?

I'll give you three guesses on who makes that for VT.
