Gentlemen (and ladies,) I'm very likely moving to a contract in Ft. Gordon very very soon...like the next few days. Any of you in the area who can recommend:
1) a place to live
2) good hangouts
3) any other useful information

...please give me a shout.

I'm down here at ALC at the moment. A lot of the folks living here say that Aiken SC is a good place to look for places to live, with good real estate prices, schools, and safe places.

As far as hangouts - really depends what you're looking for - but as a guy that loves to booze it up when I can - the Highlander is an ok Brit/Scotch pub in Aiken SC, the Mellow Mushroom on Broad Street has great pizzas and a good beer list, and the Limelight across from the movie theater has a really impressive beer list.

If there's anything more specific you're looking for, I'm more than happy to do some digging, but I'm really just trying to knock out class and get back to Bragg....so that's how I spend most of my time.

Roger that. Yeah I was thinking along the lines of places to have a few brews, throw some darts, and avoid fights with kids in AIT.

That's exactly what I was looking for, and found, at the Highlander. Decent chow over there, too. You're gonna lose your mind when you see how bad the AIT kids have gotten...

Duly noted. Been a while since I've been to Ft. Gordon...but I don't like what I see of MOST AIT kids these days...then again, I was probably just as bad. I suppose we choose how things seem in hindsight...

I'm down here at ALC at the moment.

My WOBC @ Fort Gordon starts at the end of November. We'll have to meet up for some beers! :biggrin:

Side note -I will probably be looking for an apartment as I will be a geo-bachelor, but I'm hoping to get gov't qtrs. I'm trying to get my PCS orders changed around with a BAH waiver.
