Hello, currently I am an EMT-Basic in Maine and am considering joining the military. I know I want an Airborn/Ranger contract but was thinking that I might want somthing different from the usual 11x path. One of my questions is what is the difference between a 91 Bravo and a 91 Whiskey? What kind of duties would they perform with the batt.? I would assume that they receive training in infantry tactics as well. Do medics intubate in the feild? And one last question for the road, would I learn much more than I already know besides the administration of IV therapy and a few more drugs? Sorry for all the questions, I just like to find other sources of information before I approach a recruiter.
BK,
TED would be the guy on this board to talk to about 91 Series jobs/usage/capabilities in the Ranger Regiment.
If you don't get a response from him soon, look around for one of his posts and email him with your questions.

BK, I was an EMT-B before I enlisted as well. As per the 91B - 91W thing, well the whole Army is going to 91W, which offers a little more training than the previous 91B MOS.
If you enlist as a medic with a Ranger contract, you will get sent to the Special Operations Combat Medics course (in addition to Airborne, RIP, Ranger school, etc). There you will learn just how dumb you are with regards to medicine and trauma management. As a medic in Batt. you will also get to fire every weapons system there. You get assigned to a platoon and you do everything with them.
You will be taught ATLS, so you can intubate in the field, but I never had to.
If you have any other questions, just fire away.
