Gentlemen,
My BS meter is pegged out right now. Just had a temporary employee assigned to us this morning who randomly informed me that he was in "Marine Special Ops" back in the 1980 - 1983 timeframe. He also used a few cheesy phrases like "that is all I can say about that" and then "killing is what I did but now I am into prolonging life." Yes, I am being serious. I asked if he was Recon and he answered with a few places he was assigned over three years: Germany, Camp Pendleton, Fort Bragg and a few others but never said yes or no to my question. Lastly he stated that he only served three years, not four "but that is a whole other story." Pretty sure this guy is spewing nothing but lies. Would like to have this dude sent back to the temp agency but I would like to have more than just a gut feeling as my reason. Like most businesses, our company is pretty big on honesty and integrity so if I can prove he is telling lies I think he would be gone.
His name is Duncan Robinson. I could probably get his SSN from my HR department and send it via PM if anybody is interested. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No need. He is full of shit.
You can just tell him he is full of shit. If he tries to come back with a witty Marine come back tell him to come here introduce himself and what not...
SOTB was there during that time frame. He can tell ya as welll his storirs are bs.

3 yrs going around killing......LOL, he would not have finished training for deployment. 80-83.....I do not buy it. Vietnam was over and The Gulf had not stated. With so many qualified Bn and force Recon personnel available, it does not add-up.
Do not publish his ssn as, you and the company can get sued for privacy shit.
Basically, Tell him you think he is enhancing his service background and see how much more BS you can bring back for fun.

I had plenty of guys come in for interviews with similar tales. Not one, that was real, ever spoke that way. If they claimed USMC stuff, just serving as an infantryman in the FMF during that period, was enough to know everything in that post is/was BS. Had several of those and just asked for a 214, never saw them again.

Figured he was full of it with the off the wall shit he was saying. I have to go talk to him later today about something else so I will ask a few more pointed questions for fun. He has apparently started telling some other employees about his time in "black ops" and one of my Supervisors asked him if he was talking about Call of Duty...

I'd be interested in what "killing" he did from 80-83. Not an awful lot going on in that time period -- unless what he was killing was time itself. Even in the few places the Corps got involved in, Beirut and Grenada, there weren't many guys doing any "killing" and less when you refer to Recon types.
"Germany, Camp Pendleton, Fort Bragg" -- deployments probably -- if true. With maybe Camp Pendleton as his duty station, IF he truly was ever there.
As far as doing 3 years vice 4 -- when I joined, there was very much a 3-yr enlistment option, I got a $6k bonus for doing the 4-yr option.
But in general -- and without the slightest doubt -- your boy is a poser, and not a very talented one, either....

I am not trying to get in your buisness and I understand the intent of your post, but please be aware that going to HR and getting a guys SSN (even if he is a worthless POS) to send to other people on the Internet, could seriously put you in hot water. I am not a lawyer or a trained HR person, but even at my level of basic buisness practices knowledge, that is a HUGE no-no.
Just FYI.

I just went through this exact situation, outing a guy claiming he was the ultimate Army SF badass, funny thing was, the Rocky Mountain District Manager has a son actively serving on an ODA with the 10th group. I went to HR, to the personal level, and they helped me out a great deal, without cutting to much tape.
These guys are very professional, hence the many successful bust here on SOCNET. That being said and the obvious being no mods or admins would allow it to be displayed in the open, its a safe bet these gents will do everything right. If you research a little, most of us that are coming here for a poser check do so in the PM action to provide such info, even so no one knows the Company in question. I just hope the govt. gets off its collective ass in the near future and puts a hammer down on these SOB's with a lot more ferocity. I hope i didn't step out of my lane too much...... just my .02's:smile:

All,
With regards to the SSN, I appreciate your concern and thanks for watching out for me; egspot was on it pretty quick with a warning as well. I would never have published his SSN on the open forum but originally thought it would have been OK via PM in case it was needed for an official records check. In the end, I did not have to request it from HR as this guy was so ridiculous and his stories so outlandish that it was easy (but a bit time consuming) to send him away. Thanks again.
