In Block 13 Decorations, Awards, Badges, Citations, and Campaigns.

Abbreviations I don't know.

SSDR (3rd Awd)

NMCAM

MM

RSS

PMM

Looking other places also. But do not wish to leave a stone unturned.

Same results I got. RSS and PMM don't add up. I found RSS=Reserve Sea Svc.... but svc was all active not reserve.

Thanks.

SSDR - Sea service Deployment

NMCAM - That's the old (prior to 2000 acronym for the NAM (Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal)
Or it could be a typo for a NMCM a Navy and Marine Corps Medal. Depending on when this person was discharged

MM - Correct, Meritorious Mast.

RSS = Rifle Sharshooter
PMM - Pistol Marsksman

Anything else let me know.

MM = Meritorious Service Medal on a Marine Awards Page.
MT = Meritorious Mast on a Marine Awards Page.

I just looked at a couple of awards pages on Marine On Line.

Meritorious Service Medal would be abbreviated MSM. The MSM is ranked with the bronze star for meritorious service. Usually awarded to Senior Staff Non Commissioned Officers and Captains or above.

Meritorious Mast is one of the lowest award, usually reserved for Sergeants and below.

I wanted to make sure I was correct after looking at both of your post and what I looked at on Marine On Line in my record last night. I have a Meritorious Service Medal and it is listed in my record as CODE: MM. I am currently on Active Duty so I can only speak to that. I also looked for the reference document. My reference is SECNAVINST 1650.1H dated 22 Aug 2006. Chapter 2, section 220.1.b list the two letter codes (three letter codes are no longer used). Without knowing the date of the DD214, and based on the other information provided, I agree that likely if the DD214 pre-dates 2006, MM would mean Meritorious Mast. If it is post Aug-2006 then according to the SECNAVINST it would be a Meritorious Service Medal. I additionally agree with who the Medal and the Meritorious Mast are usually awarded to.

Bottom-line: I was trying to help, and without knowing additional information such as rank of the individual and date of the DD214, I conclude that we are all correct.
