Fellas,
I did some searching in the gear forum and found no mention of these, so I though I would hang the link here.
Surefire has a series of high capacity magazines coming out (http://www.surefire.com/HighCapacityMagazines)in 60 and 100 rnd. It look much more efficient than the Beta C mags as well as being easier to carry.
I wonder how many gas impingement gas tubes will shit the bed due to these?

Well, we've all seen these attempts at building a functional hi-cap AR mag before.
I'll watch to see what everyone writes about them once they make their way into such things as the IAR....

The 100 round mag is over 12" long...I see that as a significant drawback. There are some applications where these new magazines would be real useful...in a Go-bag? I wonder if they will function better than a C-Mag...especially when they sit loaded for prolonged periods of time.

Here is a video of both mags (http://www.surefire.com/video-channel#highcapacitymagazine). The 100 rdner is HUGE and I think a step too far. I see some value in the 60 rnder although at heart, I am a 20 round mag guy. Easier to load, easier to fire from prone, Old school some say, but thats just me. I think maybe for the 3 gun game players, but I will stick to my 20 rd P mags for now, especially since I shoot all semi-auto.
I do like Slinger's comment about a Go Bag Mag though.

I am a 20 round mag guy.I see logical applications for a 20rd mag, ie wearing it on the belt when in civvies, so as to have an easily accessible AR mag -- in fact, I have teams of one of my clients all wearing a 20rd mag on their persons just for that reason (even though only one of each team has an AR). But for general work (the type of work I'm in, not 0-dark-30 home defense), if you are going to need to use your gun -- then you'll probably appreciate having a 30rd mag in the gun, vice a shorter one. At least at the onset of the situation.I do like Slinger's comment about a Go Bag Mag though.Maybe. Since mags are often the root of all evil with regards to semi-auto guns, I personally think I prefer having multiple mags, and while certainly you could have 2-3 of the 60rd mags in a bag (meeting the definition of multiple), I'm probably more likely to think 30rd mags for a Go-Bag, for ease of getting ammo to multiple persons, having more options if you drop 1-2 mags, if mags get shot/banged up, etc....

Good Points all, as always,
My 20 rnd affliction came from being an infantryman and not being able to shoot from the prone and it just went on from there. I keep 30 rd P Mags in my Go Bag but keep a 20 rder in my POF in the safe (The door won't close otherwise.
Ammo and mag compatibility is a no brainer in a team situation like yours, trying to peel rnds out of a 100 rnder to feed a 30 rnder is obviously a non-starter. Go Bag stuff here is more for just The Fat Guy. I know we all talk about testing magazines, but does everyone really test them and throw the shitty ones away? I try to keep up with it. Buying P mags helped eliminate a lot of magazine issues.
I just don't know, I might buy a 60 rnder to try, maybe something to keep in the car, but to be honest with you, I am not there yet, with the exception of maybe playing the three gun game. I can see the benefit of having them to fight through a near ambush, but I do not really have that scenario in my training regimen (Unlike some of you).

"The 60 rounder fits in most dual (30 rd.) mag pouches" ;)
The 60 looks interesting, the 100 looks excessive. But what do I know....thanks for posting this, I hadn't heard of these yet.
