Shit......

K2 was my BN XO in 3/2. Last time I saw him was late summer 2004. His guy's supported my Team's fly away into Najaf. We caught up and talked for awhile, he was happy I was out and about, doing what we all love to do, being a solid team mate and leader.

He was a Pro's, Pro.

RIP to them both.

If you are someone that I worked with in South Iraq, and you are out of the info loop, I have his family address and will update on the funeral dates. I will only do this for people that I know.

For anyone else you should contact Rich Garner or BW for more info. Thank you.

And if your out of the loop - shame on you. PM with any questions. I hear his Team fought like hell after. May god bless you all.

The team, Kurds, brought the truth to a number of those that were involved in the action, recovered K2 and Bear as well as the 2 wounded and fought their way out of the KZ. The 2 wounded died later due to the severity of their injuries.

We heard about it here only a few short hours after it happened.

K2 was incredible. A world class mountain climber, he could do dead hangs until you got tired of watching him...it seemed.

He took care of his people no matter what and had a following that would go anywhere with him.

I remember the first time I met him. While waiting for him to meet us newcomers, we were told "When he comes out to meet you, look him in the eye when you tell him about yourself. If he detects weakness in you, he will send you right back to Baghdad". Few people in this world can be pre-introduced in that manner.

We took his loss hard. He seemed invincible to some of us and will be missed dearly.

Rest In Peace K2.....Rest In Peace Bear! And Peace Be With Their Families And Loved Ones.

zdfg- do you know what years he was on SPD? I worked up there as a bailbondsman from 1995- late 1998 and King/Snohomish Co. was my primary area. His name sounded familiar.

Iraqgunz,

Bear didn't start on patrol until 2001. He worked south precinct. A few other south precinct guys are in the box so you might have heard his name mentioned before.
