MSG Melillo was very active in the Ranger and Ft Benning community up until his passing, he was at almost every Ranger school graduation weather permitting.

It was a former MM, Maj. Edward T. Hancock who lived in my small town that came to talk to me when I was thinking of enlisting back in senior year of HS.The stories he told about the campaign and what those guys had done, gave me a whole new frame of reference for what "hard" was.
