D.B. Cooper

Tonight on the History Channel is the premier of a two part documentary series investigating some of the more promising Cooper suspects. (9PM eastern)

I've always found the Cooper mystery and peoples opinions on who he actually was rather interesting. What do you guys think, does anyone here think they can crack the case?

justamedic 10 July 2016 20:51

Awesome. Just set my DVR to record it.

Sounds interesting. Thanks for bringing it up.

FYI, it's a two-parter; episode 2 is on tomorrow.

IIRC, they found some of the money many years ago near a creek bed somewhere (I think) in Washington state. That fueled the speculation that he did not survive the jump.

I also recall one of the copycats doing something similar here in Reno. He wasn't as smart as DB. They found his planned get away car in Washoe Valley. What made the vehicle so suspicious, was a bumper sticker that read, Proud To Be A Paratrooper.

The guy was a Vietnam vet. His younger sister was a classmate of mine. She was devistiated.

I think there were other copycats too, but no one other than DB got away with it.

I going to watch that show when it comes on at 9:00.

Thanks for posting this. I was skimming through channels and watched a few minutes of it thinking it was the old docu. Now back on it watching!

According to the show, only a small portion of the money was found and it was buried shallowly in piles held together with rubber bands. Normal rubber bands would have decayed long before the money was found if it had been out in the environment for as long as the money had been missing. The burial spot was over 20 miles away from the drop site on a stream unconnected to the one near the drop zone and was uphill from the drop zone. Basic conclusion: either Cooper survived the jump, or someone else recovered the money from his corpse and disposed of the body, and either Cooper or his "heir" returned at some later date and buried some of the money for reasons unknown.

I thought some kid found DBC money in a river years ago?

He bought me and a couple team mates (fellow Sea Pigs) drinks at a bar in Thailand. He was on one of the last HALO jumps SOG did in the Nam theatre. Came back a bit broke and decided to make some easy money. He had been in 1st Group prior to heading over to SOG. Former 12B S Series (modern day 18C). He is pictured on the left side of the photo.

He then headed back over to Thailand, where he settled down, married a Thai lady and used his Hijacked money to start up and small bar/restaurant in the sleepy little village of Kanchanaburi, then later moved on down to Song Khla.

I grew up with this story and it is one of my favorites.

Don't know if he is still alive or even survived the jump...I just find it fascinating.

Oh man, conspiracy theorists unite!

I've mentioned several times in D.B. Cooper threads the uncanny resemblance between Mike Huckabee and the most widely disseminated artist sketch of Cooper.

And here, in this movie, is an actor by name of Cooper Huckabee!

Coincidence? I think not...

Would they if they were deposited in Switzerland or another offshore bank?
