Katie What's-her-name Move Over!

Didn't see this anywhere else, so allow me to formally announce...

Training Group Commander sent out an email this am stating the first female has made it through Selection, and will be scheduled to attend the Q in the coming months.

If everyone is treated equally, then an email stating she was treated the same as everyone and the standards were upheld should have been unnecessary, but...

The email did NOT state if she was hot or not?

That would be my guess . If she is smart, she'll wait until next fall to report to the Q, then it'll be half as long and SUT will be a week!

Is that hyperbole, or is the SFQC actually getting shortened?

didn't a woman complete the Q in the 70s or 80s?

and not one that started as a man.

Meh. I'm going to wait and see...

I will say if the standards were maintained, then I wish her well and good luck. Hopefully she doesn't get Arabic as an assigned language...

There were a lot of issues associated with that and a lawsuit filed in Fayetteville. I wouldn't say she completed the Course, but the Army capitulated in the litigation. There was a specially produced diploma that was given to her.

Somewhere on SOCNET there is a thread about all that was learned from the past and how it all fell into place.

Guidance is on the street, to be implemented by Class 320, June 2019.

Curriculum Review Boards are being done this week for some MOS's, I thinks some were last week, but all are supposed to be done by the Holiday Break.

Then Working Groups are to be assembled after the holiday to figure out the details.

The "Katie..." part of the threat title was in reference to her.

Well...that's just perfect. I should have waited a couple of decades to attend the SFQC, could have saved some time.

Based on your age, it is probably getting shortened to about what it was when you went through...roughly 24 weeks not including language and ...yes MFF

I doubt that, I'm probably older than you think...300F1, then Bragg. 18 months of just the SFQC...no language, etc. I doubt it's getting shortened to 18 months.

Haha, you are old! 18D doesnt count! And under this model, the 18D “track” is going to be approx 95 weeks. The current medical MOS portion isnt getting cut back any that I am aware of. They’ll start before the rest of their class so they end at the same time as the other MOSs, form into Student ODAs, then start the Tactical Skills phase, before heading to Robin Sage.

When I went through the SFQC, it was "phase one, phase two, phase three," and we didn't count SFAS as a phase. When I was a Sage cadre, they talked about phases one thru six or seven (can't remember what it was up to). All of the students were going through the SFQC in different sequences, so one guy's phase three might not match up with another's. I might have 3 18B students on a Sage team, and all had done the various phases in a different order. I left Sage few years before the "freefall-for-all" kicked in, I'm sure that added to the confusion. I remember talking to a 18D student at Sage who was complaining about how rusty he thought his medic skills were. Turned out it had been several months since he had finished SFMS, and he had been busy with language, SERE, whatever else they added in.

As an aside, I was on the "first-ever student Sage MFF infil into Pineland." This was several months after I left Sage, but was still jumping with them. It was advertised as a Sage team doing a Level One into CULEX. The reality was it was four out-of-cycle captains and some instructors doing a "last light" Hollywood/admin jump into a weekend. The four captains were in a holding pattern, waiting to attend Sage. PAO Magic!

We did phase 13. Mos phase first, the phase 1 and phase 3 combined at the end, hence the nickname given at the time "phase 13". Back in '91/'92.

Intersted to see if this is a one off, regaddingbtge female, or us going to be a constant stream. Even though I oppose females serving in any combat role for various reasons, if they are going to allow I hope there were no lowering of standards or special treatments given.

So MFF is now going to be standard for all - incorporated into the QCourse? Like SEALs are doing now?

Just an FYI, there is a memo going around, often with this article, that has SERE listed as optional, SFAS as 11 days, Sage as like a week, etc. It is a fake memo, and a bunch of FOGs are using it to get all worked up.
