Recently leaving BN (because DA said I had to. Sad sad day) I was able to see some NCOs come and go into the CoC. For some guys the flash to bang from SSG to SFC and PSG was less than a year and for other guys it was a lot longer as they sat on staff. You know the deal you work hard and are squared away no one wants to move you. Taking all that into consideration Ive seen my share of guys who sat on staff and because no one was checking on them failed pretty quick as PSGs. One guy pretty much was the weakest guy in his PLT when it came to pt another guy just couldnt break the SL mentality to take the leadership role needed to oversee a platoon of hooahs, because he went from SSG to PSG before pinning his E7. RASP is serving as that check to make sure that before that NCO takes a plt he can also meet the basic requirements expected from his hooahs. Last I heard none of the Senior NCOs that were going to take compaines or plt's have failed RASP. Just a little pissed they had to go, but the organization now as a whole is getting better.
