Ranger Check Please

I PM'd a MOD and asked first because I didn't want to step on my dick and was advised to post up on here with the information I have.

There is a guy who is an aquaintance of friends of mine who always brags about being a Ranger and doing all sorts of "heroic" and "highspeed" stuff. He has made specific claims to me such as

(Granted this was after some interservice banter between a friend of mine who is in the Army and myself, that he came across)

Quote:
I didn't know I had to be in the real military to be the one chasing AMZ and having the TacP drop a Jdam on his head along with clearing rooms and flying on the same littlebird platform with XXXXXXX and training with them.
and

Quote:
Im not out of the military, Im doing the weekend warrior highspeed S word, if that makes you feel anybetter. Don't worry I'll do some highspeed stuff like you. It's called 19th group.

P.S. just incase you dont know what 19th group is, its asome uber superman stuff. You should look into it. LOL
I haven't made any claims of being "highspeed" or anything else, it was basiclly a friend and I going back and forth about He's a douche for being in the Army, and that I was too dumb to get into the Army and that typical sort of BS.

Anyways, in an unrelated online conversation he posted up is DD 214 that shows the timeframes in which he was deployed. Those dates do not jive with the time the strike on Zarqwai happened that he claims to have been on. It just made me curious so I figured I'd check with the pros.

Here is the copy of the DD 214 he posted, it shows all the cool guys schools and what not, but from what I gathered you can do all that stuff and not be in an actual battalion, so once again, I defer to the experts.

While I do get a bad vibe from the guy, I'm not going to assume I know it all. As seems to be tradition, First round is on me should I be wrong

I can get provide a name and some pictures should they be needed.

I was the Mod.

If that DD214 is legit (which I have no doubt it is) he's for real:

  • Ranger Indoctrination Program was not a course anyone in the Army could just 'attend'.
  • Block 8a translates as 2/75th, A Co.

But you're right his dates for the Zarqawi hit don't jive according to his DD214.

Side subject, where did this Ranger have a brainfart and post up his DD214 and claim being the one to pull the trigger on that mission and then step on his dick by mentioning a classified unit? Espescially if he is still on NG duty with the 19th.

If you have a link (please post it) it's highly likely someone from his unit is on here and will contact him and get him to wind his neck in.

Besides the fact you know the guy personally (as per your PM), go ahead and post a link to this thread wherever you came across his DD214/claims and ask him to come here and register on our behalf.

The link has been deleted, but I have previously invited him to join socnet the first time we talked, I don't know if he ever did or not.

What's the reason for the check, just to prove that he is FOS?

As long as he isn't trying to use his 'BS lies' to get a job or date someone's daughter, or use it for some type of personal gain, what's the point?

If it's only a guy, legit or not, that is talking shit, who cares?!?!!? I know it sucks and it is BS, but it's just that.........BS.

It takes people's time and maybe a little 'running around' to run a check.

Something to think about when asking for a check on someone.

Totally right my Brother, but if he is really with the 19th and just spouting off, least we can get him to do is tone it down a bit.

Even if he is just telling war stories to Legs and chicks....any Ranger that posts their DD214 online and then makes a claim to be on a mission that was outside the deployment dates on said DD214, and talking about classified units in an open forum, needs a slap upside the head and few zillion push ups.

Understandable,

I did seek guidance from one of your BTDT's and informed him that if he told me to pound sound, I would gladly shut up.

Kirk,
Requested info will be in your inbox shortly

I appreciate the prompt response, I consider this subject closed and it looks like a round on me when I'm back in my home town.

As much as it pains me to say this, the website this Ranger posted his DD214 on, made false operational claims, and talked in the open about a classified unit is:

www.fresnoairsoft.com

His screen name there is: ross

That's right men, one of our own is an Airsofter.

He has since had the offending threads deleted by a Mod or Admin.

You guys do with that whatever you like. If anyone reading this is with the 19th, there are shots of the kid in full battle rattle so it won't be hard to ID him.

Real deal or not, I've done about ten minutes of digging and the kid is a tool. BTDT's feel free to dig in, I'm not going to waste any time on him. Any of you Ranger brothers on AR.com feel free to copy all this over there and sic the dogs on him.

And Copecwby20...what the hell are you doing playing airsoft if you're an active duty Jarhead?

Kirk,

Not to get defensive but just so you know, the team I am involved with is one of the best teams in the state, our main purpose is to host events that raise money for organizations such as "The Fallen Patriots Fund" and the "Mark Cuban Foundation" Before being an official memeber of the team I knew many people on the team and upon learning of the fact that a friend of mine and a local kid was killed in Iraq, they organized a game that raised over $2,000.00 for the make a wish foundation (requested by his family instead of flowers) So yeah, I'm not going to lie, there are a lot of fat dorky losers that play airsoft, the thing is alot of these fat dorky users spend alot of money to play airsoft and if we can channel that money into something good, then where is the harm in that?

No worries, just thought you'd be getting enough trigger time in the Corps.

To each his own I guess, at least you're supporting good causes.

Note: Someone from the 19th has contacted me and they're going to have a quiet word with this young Ranger. Hopefully that's all it takes.

What's his name? Can you PM me his name? I'll look on the roster, he might be assigned to our company. if so, I'll look him up at drill. I got a few buddies in SWC in decision maker roles

Fire up the AKO and find (Edited: he's taken his DD214 down so I've taken his last name down).

He's listed as an E-4, but still listed as 2/75, which one of your guys says means that he's likely in the pipeline.

He's deleted his DD214 from his Photobucket account and started to delete various statements, so he's likely been reading this and will be expecting you.

He's only lied (to my knowledge) to a bunch of Airsoft Dorks, so don't burn the kid down. Just give him a boot up the ass for being a dickhead and embarrasing us.

If he doesn't make it through SFAS, he always has Airsoft to fall back on.

Just an update, a couple guys from the 19th SFG are formally on the case. Direct email / COC level. It's also been flagged at PS.com

Any BTDT or you guys across the street (AR.com or PS.com) that want to pile on can PM me for details and I'll put you in contact. I honestly don't think it's necessary at this stage, but your mileage may vary.

And a sincere thanks to the guys that stepped up. Another impressive display of SOCNET's reach.

I'd have normally deleted this post for not following the rules, but this is some good research. Thanks Steve.

google knows all;

http://www.i-club.com/forums/archive.../t-182330.html

Buchanan High School, Clovis, California (CA) from 2000-2004

Probably owns a 3000sx vehicle:

Youtube user: RossFaShow
http://www.youtube.com/user/rossfash.../5/bH5nfBq4jvY
(He's gonna get shot for real by some LEO that sees him rolling around with an airsoft pistol.. in the 'ex-presidents halloween' video..)

His 'weapons' as Rossfashow:

and hundreds of car forums... seems like a kid that needs to simply be checked before he gets someone hurt or a team identified...

Nite all

AMZ was chased for years before catching a JDAM. This cat may easily have been on one of those missions.

2/75 was in garrison at Ft. Lewis when AMZ was killed. I was visiting them on that day.

Yup, we caught that Sir, his deployment dates on his DD214 don't match that mission.

Just emailed you his DD214.
