Stumbled upon a bottle of Orphan Barrel Entrapment 25 yr Canadian (distilled by crown royal in 1992) Whiskey while killing time at the mini-NEX in Portsmouth Maine yesterday. They had 3 bottles sitting on the shelf, marked for $136. A great deal since that is below MSRP and anything Orphan Barrel makes usually sells out pretty quick at inflated prices. No plans to open for a bit, it'll sit next to the Orphan Barrel Barterhouse Bourbon I came across last year, waiting for something special to warrant opening them.

Yeah, big fan of Tin Cup.

I just tried Basil Hayden's for the first time. Yeah, smooth with a great finish. Moves into my top 3 for sure

I am working a contract in NY, and ambled into a local liquor purveyor, was glad to see some different brands that are not available near my home. I tried some Weller (a wheat bourbon) very nice, smooth and interesting flavors. Swampirate, you will be enthralled to know they also have Elmer Y Lee, which I plan to try this weekend. Also agree with Buffalo Trace and Elijah Craig (which if I am not mistaken is the ONLY liquor that was allowed to be made during prohibition, and only then as a medicinal!). Got a bottle of Makers 46, and it is decent as well.

Such a tough assignment......sigh.....

I received a bottle of Whistlepig as a gift and know nothing about it.

The guy that sent it to me (one of our lawyers) is a huge rye fan, so I am assuming it is pretty good.

Anyone familiar with it?

JP Wiser's Triple Barrel Rye. A little on the sweet side but other than that tasty.

Which Whistlepig did you get? I've tried the 10 year before; pretty good but I remember it being a little harsh. Maybe drop an ice cube into it.

I love the 'Pig. I am generally not a big fan of rye, but I do enjoy some of the 'Pig from time to time.
