Until Kondor comes back, here’s what the ROK Marine Mountain Warfare Badge looks like. Been wearing it on my Class A’s since I got it in the summer of 83. Best memories are of watching the PBR’s head out on patrol from the base on the Han River I think it was. Test firing their twin 50’s was impressive! And then there was SGM Lee; calm, chunkie, wielding a hefty 6 foot limb that he used to pummel the ROK underachievers with. Those videos on YouTube of martial artists slinging a bow staff... nothing compared to SGM Lee bringing smoke on one of the Marines!
And yes, we PT’d twice a day, duckwalked our ass off, and the slide for life literally was from a mountain top into a valley down a huge ship docking rope. We slide down it with other pieces of rope which had been soaking in a nearby stream all day. |

My Dad did ROK Ranger in early '85!
We were just talking about this the other day.
