Troops apparently have good time after deployment

Just not enough beer to go around sometimes.

US troops drink Iceland capital┬ĺs entire beer supply in one weekend

We accept any mission... and will not quit, until all your beer is gone.

We did something similar to this in Roosey Roads once. Hurricane coming in and we decided to have a party or three. We drank the entire SeaBees bar dry (they said we weren't allowed back unless we brought our own after that) and the BX was sold out. Damn hurricane never hit, either. So we were a might hung over crowd the next day.

It can be done. Our squadron was kicked off of Hill AFB in the early nineties. Never to be invited back. To help others understand the level of debauchery involved, the AFB NCO club had strippers on Tuesday afternoons....then we arrived.

haha, that's great. I'd bet the Seabees probably helped. After a FEX at Ft. Hunter-Liggett one year, we drank the Hacienda dry by about 2200. But, drinking an entire city dry is impressive. Good job!

Well done boys, the Marines of Tun Tavern and Subic Bay welcome you to the club.

The Icelander's must have failed "P7". I've never heard of Olongapo, Perth or Phuket ever running out of beer.

Well... if soldiers did drink the city dry, that may in fact be impressive. In this case, it was sailors and Marines. So the feat is rather routine.

Where, I ask, in America would you ever hear "emergency beer" used seriously in a sentence.

whats not mentioned in the article is how Iceland women have a pretty liberal view of sex... like have sex with you, see if its good, then maybe go on a date, liberal :-) of course they have a small population. So while I am sure this was good liberty on the alcohol side, some of the boys probably had the best liberty ever. :-)

Guy I worked with a long time ago had served overseas with the Navy. He didn't drink beer and said they were given a beer per day or something, so his stacked up over time. When it came time to leave port, he had accumulated a large amount of beer in his name. Not being a drinker, he offered it up to the rest of the guys on their last day there. They all drank it and got drunk and were not able to leave port on schedule because of it. Ship was delayed by one day because of him and his beer.

You guys think he was pulling my chain? This was a long time ago when I was young so I may be missing parts of the story.
