It's illegal for me to sell any of it according to the state of ohio. It makes me chuckle to think that the government mandates that I MUST under penalty of law drink this myself or share with friends.

Were you able to enjoy this? I just picked up a bottle locally that I was planning on saving for a special day. Was the only bottle to store received, so they didn't know anything about it, except to say it was rare and hard to find (could have been a sales pitch).

Yep, and it's not whiskey either, it's whisky. My wife bought me a book on whiskey, whisky, and scotch one year. Very interesting.

Agreed. You never mix scotch unless it's with water or soda. And a good bourbon, is the same. Now some bourbons I will either use water or a small amount of 7-up with my smoked ice cubes, totally smoothes it out, but you still get the bourbon taste.
And YOU NEVER use coke. We're not in high school anymore. Rum-yes, bourbon- only if it's a necessity(tailgating, at a football game, etc.) Scotch- never.

Up there on the list of things not to do in public [or private]; and especially not with someone elses's single malt...

Buffalo Trace is a staple for me, but Larceny was an easy summer pour...

Does anybody drink Glenrothes (Speyside)? It was my go-to good Scotch in the late '90s. I'm curious to reinvestigate, though I have since taken to Lagavulin and Laphroig.

Glenrothes
My friend brought one for our meeting some time ago, Glenrothes Select. I can't remember if it's better or worse than the late 90s Glenrothes (I remember drinking their blend(? was it a blend? I don't remember) back then on one or two occasions and it was okay for my undeveloped taste). One of my pals, an avid scotch drinker, told me that once palate develops revisiting old ones for anything other than nostalgia sake might be a crude disappointment. For me the Select was quite fruity on the nose, very smooth in taste.

hahaha, yea I had a 15yr Balvenie that I would hide when my son was home from college. I wasnt afraid of him having some I was afraid he and his friends would mix it with coke.

Dont get me wrong I do like an occasional Jim Beam or Jack and coke.

That's downright barbaric. You would think they'd have sent an officer and gentleman to some sort of finishing school before they were allowed to drink distilled spirits.

Partaking of spirituous liquors often leads to consorting with women of loose morals. I'm ashamed of all of you.

For all the cheap Bourbon drinkers...

Make a simple syrup with fresh ginger.

Bourbon and ginger:

At your own proportions, bourbon, simple ginger syrup, seltzer, ice, and lime.

Or wild turkey and ginger ale...
