Glad I moved. Two of my kids still love there but far enough inland that they should be fine with anything short of an Andrew type hurricane .

For those in the path... be prepared and fingers crossed that this peters out.

Montana is beautiful this time of year :)

Florida will probably be fine what with all the billions that have been invested in Puerto Rican infrastructure that will probably suck the life right out of that storm.

Hurricanes almost never hit the Jacksonville - Brunswick area. Regardless of how many times meteorologists say they will, storms almost always turn north toward the Carolinas at the last minute. Here in SC I'm fine with any prediction of an impact from Cocoa Beach southward, but any predicted impact north of Saint Augustine causes sphincter contraction.

I was just looking through my pics from Katrina. It was unbelievable. You would not find me using anything but concrete and steel to rebuild from a hurricane. It blows my mind they keep putting up stick frame homes! You all hang tough down there, and I pray those that need to be taken care of , are taken care of!

Just took my son to school last week in the Daytona area....thing is, these schools tell everyone to leave campus if a Hurricane is approaching....to where we're not sure, northern kids are S.O.L. Got a brother in Jacksonville, but the call has to be made before the bottom of the state starts their migration north.

HH6 and her brother are in St. Croix now with about a dozen others from our church to repair damaged roofs from the last hurricane. Lost power mid morning. Theyll have plenty to do by dawn tomorrow.

I dont make plans to go into the Caribbean in August. ~Me

Last update forecasted Dorian growing to a major storm - at least Cat 3. As long as there's no insertion of dry air, no upper level shearing and SSTs remain warm (which is pretty much a given), I don't see this abating.

ERAU will probably evacuate their aircraft to the northwest and they will probably end up in Tennessee would be my guess. Also, considering the mess caused by Maria, if the track remains solid, I would consider evacuating south.

His professor today told him that there's "nothing to worry about" Thanks for the update

This is just the marketing revenue phase.

You really can't tell much about a hurricane's strength or
course, when it's more than two days out.

I'm close enough to start moving my prep stuff around, so
if it looks inbound, everything glass will be covered with
plywood in a couple of hours. Been here twenty years, so
everything's been figured and planned out (knock on da
wood).

I'm waiting........

I don't get too excited after 13-years here, albeit, I still renewed our flood insurance this year.

The only thing I'm anticipating is having to cancel a hotel room for Sunday night for my daughter's soccer tournament on Monday morning in Sarasota.

Me thinks they will be plenty busy and hopefully all safe and sound. Our church body has missions in Antigua and Puerto Rico that I know of .

Every idiot in Jax Beach ran to Publix and gobbled up bread and water - I was there for pork chops and amused myself by the ridiculousness of it all. F-in storm is at best 5 days out.

The one time there was a hurricane predicted to hit Jacksonville when I was stationed there (90's), they sent all the planes to Millington. Damn storn didn't go anywhere near Jacksonville. Oh well. If you leave you get screwed, if you stay you are more likely to get really screwed. LOL!

I was in PR when some minor hurricane glanced by. We got so excited that we were getting to ride out the storm, they sent all the planes to Florida. Once again, no storm. Bought all that alcohol for the hurricane party and never got one. Dammit.
