I'm still a believer in the MilDot Master for in the likely event batteries die and they are great for converting mils/inches/moa quickly.

Oh yeah, excellent piece of gear for sure. Slope doper, everything you really need in one package. I'm guessing the new generation is app heavy though. I've been out of the long range game for 5 years now.

(Grumpy old man voice) I'll tell you a fad that needs to be executed at dawn with Pvt Slovac is "fifi" gripping the pistol grip! I see that crap all the time along with excessively lightened triggers. If you cant shoot with a good 3 lb manly trigger go back to middle school! :-)

Yeah, that's all the rage these days. I started seeing it about 10 years ago, particularly on the USMC side, which greatly surprised me at first. Of course things change. I remember being told that the Harris bipod was Satan himself reincarnated and put on a rifle.

Talk about fads what is all this with having sniper rifles with chassis, rails, bipods, and the like weighting in over 14lbs. They seem to be spending more and more time making long range shooters looking for those miracle mile shots having to use wind meters,LRFs and ballistic programs and forgetting all about the field craft and stealth getting in close undetected and getting out. Is this the future of sniping? Or is this just a result of the current conflicts we are in now?

I think it's the overwatch defensive mindset vs the hunt them down offensive mindset WRT to the larger mission of the .mil.

I use pre-64 Winchesters to hunt with, sometimes older is better. S/F....Ken M

I have the exact same set up only my 700 is a Mountain Lite model. I don't think they make them anymore. I have the American made redfield scope as well.
