Never heard of that, doubt it was Steve Hawk. Does anyone know where Doug Halverson is these days? Doug and I got in lots of trouble together.

The last thing I heard about Steve when he was on AD was that he pulled a pistol on someone he thought was cheating with his wife...

Not sure of the accuracy but heard that he left AD soon after without retiring.

Anyone able to verify/ deny this?

To answer both questions. I have no idea about Halverson's whereabouts. I hope you weren't involved in the part where he lost his finger Dave.

RGR M, Might have been another Steve because that situation was just the opposite. Doug Saluted the Bn. Cmdr. on the way to the Overhang. Bn Cmdr asked him "What's going on Sergeant"? Oh, I'm just headed to the club to beat the shit outta Steve ? "Hooah, drive on"...

And he did.

I was in contact with Steve regarding a matter, perhaps it was 10 years ago? He was serving as a LEO up in North Georgia and said he was doing well. I don't know..... Given his job in Georgia, I suspect that if any such pistol event happened, he wouldn't have been able to pass the background investigation. But then again, lots of stuff never gets documented/reported.

Mike Ramsey is also the Chief Deputy of Lumpkin County. For awhile now. I had his Platoon about in A Co 4 PSG's later.

David Mark Keith is also in the Department.

Steve and I are friends on FB but I've never asked- I figured it was none of my business.

It was one of those 'urban Ranger legends' that I had heard...

I'm really glad that it isn't true; he was a Ranger's Ranger in 1/75...

Dave, long time brother. Would love to see "Preacher's" name on a planning bay. Spoke with Wimbrough the other day. Be well and hope to see you soon.

I'm not sure. We overlapped a couple of years. Were in the same company. Dave would probably know.

John was an ROTC Instructor at my Alma Mater. I went down and met him before getting assigned to 2/75 myself. I made a point of drinking some beer with him whenever I went home on leave. What a great NCO.

Mike Ramsey is now retired and Steve Hawk is the NCO at the Lumpkin County HS Jr. ROTC. Keith is still up there, saw him at the last Ranger Breakfast I went to over there along with Butch Teston. Bunch of old 1st BN up there.
See everybody at the Critter Cookout.

In my last USMRA meeting notes by e mail I saw where Preacher Keith's planning bay packet was accepted & approved. (Thanks to Ranger Magnes) Well deserved.

Anyone interested in joining...go to usmra.org.

Mike Ramsey retired from the Department finally. Damn. Now whose gonna get me outta trouble in Lumpkin Co when I visit?

Mike was a great 1SG with C Co 3/75. The speech he gave when we had a laundry thief was classic...won't quote it here, to protect the innocent

I remember Mott. Never said "hands" when he could say "dick-beaters".

SFC Mott was once up on the stage of the Evergreen Theater, leading whole <2> BN in a thunderous rendition of the cadence "1, 2, 3, 4..., beat your meat on the bathroom floor..." "BEAT YOUR MEAT, yeah, BEAT YOUR MEAT..." 5, 6, 7, 8..., beat your meat, it sure feels great..." "BEAT YOUR MEAT, yeah, BEAT YOUR MEAT..." 9, 10, 11, 12..., beat your meat till it swells..., "BEAT YOUR MEAT, yeah, BEAT YOUR MEAT..." etc, etc. Can't recall how long he went on, but there must have been a dozen or more verses. Thunderous was, BTW, an underestimation of the noise the BN made with that cadence. I think we were waiting for some VIPs for an awards ceremony, or something. No telling.

Ranger Simpson from Alpha company, was a master at that cadence! Ya, we did turn some heads with that one. I am amazed someone did not initiate it that time we marched with "fixed bayonets" in Tacoma for 4th of July or something!
