Green Beret Challenge AAR

My son and I completed the GBC last Saturday in Smithville, TX.

What a great event. It is just as it should be.

There is no fanfare when you begin and very little when you finish. Straight SF type challenge.

It rained ALL day on us but didn't damper our spirits.

After checking in (very easy) we waiting for the safety brief and then were off. It is all trail running. Run along the marked path to each event. Complete each event and keep going to the end. Some of the events I found more difficult than others and at 52 had to relay on more technique than some of the younger guys and gals muscling through at 25.
These are SF selection events with mind games crammed into one day.

If you are tired of the normal mud runs and obstacles, want a true challenge as to what you are made of, then this is for you.

There was some physical pain and aches but that was expected.

My hat is off to the Special Ops Series for putting on such a great event.

What did this event entail? Sounds like it might be similar to GORUCk but I've never heard of it. I checked the website but didn't really find many details on the event?

Not so much as a GR. This is a 8-9 mile event with tasks to be completed en route. Each task is similar to the SF selection task.

Oh, someone drops an apparatus on you, which hurts like fuck, and then you curse them while moving in ankle deep sand?

Sign me the fuck up!

I think they need to design a course called "The Operator Challenge Extravaganza" where you just have to stand there and eat door charge after door charge and see who can take it the longest.

Bonus points for blood in your stool.
