Both the Army and the USMC are being suspiciously quiet about the facts.

It's been weeks and they won't say anything beyond "killed in a training accident."

They won't even officially say if an aircraft and/or a parachute was involved.
In the air? On the ground? Under canopy?

Surely there is someone on this site at Fort Benning who can give at least the bare minimum of the circumstances.

I understand it was a night jump. The student that jumped after the Marine who had a parachute malfunction landed and rolled up his parachute. He was walking to go to the assembly point and tripped over the body of the Marine. He tried to render first aid while getting help, but the Marine was already gone.
This is what I read of the student who jumped behind the Marine who had the parachute malfunction.
While i was at Airborne school as an instructor, night jumps were required but were often scrubbed because of weather or plane malfunctions.
I often thought while on the ground at Fryar Drop Zone at night , why don't the students have a chem light on a boot so we can track them better for a night jump?
