The article refers to the mission of the Jagdkommando element as being part of an European effort to stabilize African nations like Senegal. The local Special Forces are trained by the Austrians in combat techniques in difficult terrain as well as mountaineering. Senegals troops are expected to participate int Mali mission soon.
Hope that helps! |

There are already Senegalese troops with MINUSMA of the infantry and gendarme types and have been for some time. It's good to see that some of them are getting even more training.
They are by far one of the more spun-up and motivated troops in-country at the moment, IMHO. But the ones I've met were of the vanilla-variety, nothing secret squirrel. Unless they were REALLY good at being secret squirrel... |

Actually a really good article on why Austria decided to support them, and where the focus lies.
It's unfortunate it's not written in English, but some of the humor may be lost if it were translated. Good on the Austrians for training them.
