Smyrna PD, GA LODD

Smyrna Police Department, just north of Atlanta, suffered a loss last night when an officer was involved in a fatal car crash. His name is officially being withheld at this time. I left the department shortly before this officer was hired. Suffice it to say, this is a huge loss for the department, the city and law enforcement as a whole. He was driven, capable and had a true "serve and protect" mentality. I don't believe any of us are expendable but he was a true loss. RIP brother.

Oh damn!
The people at Smyrna PD are super cops. The kind you want in your neighborhood. SPD is damn near my local LEO’s. Sorry to see this.

This is a loss.
RIP and Blue Skies to this officer and his family.

Damn. That part of town has a lot of drivers like that sadly. It’s that weird part of town that’s kind of a buffer of where ATL ends, and the ‘burb’s start. The streets lend themselves to having a higher pace, and plenty of through traffic.

That’ll be a worthy funeral at which to pay respects.

Oh my, I am pretty sure I talked to that officer back in January. I had just moved into my apartment in Smyrna. There were cops there taking a property damage report (kids being dumb) and I think it was him and his partner I chatted with about where to find good eats. Very sad.

Unfortunately not surprising for that area like has been said earlier. I hate driving there.

Smyrna has come up a lot since I left, nice stores and restaurants. But the traffic is horrendous, the intersections of Windy Hill at Atlanta Rd and South Cobb have killed a lot of asses lately.
